Dannie138 Posted June 26, 2005 #1 Share Posted June 26, 2005 Quick question for you all...first time in Bermuda in August....am I better off going on a snorkeling excursion or going to a beach and renting equipment? What are the pros and cons? Thanks!
md115 Posted June 26, 2005 #2 Share Posted June 26, 2005 We went with our own equipment ($30 from Costco). You don't need flippers, even if you're only an average swimmer as snorkeling areas are very close to the beach. I went with a 13 and 14 year old. They didn't have any problems without flippers. Neither are strong swimmers. Didn't use excursions, so I can't comment on them. We went on our own. Tobacco Bay: Best snorkeling IMHO. Water is calm and clear. Swim towards rocks on the right, as you face the water. Variety of fish. Warwick Long Bay: Good snorkeling. Jobson's cove is next to WLB, to the right as you face the water. Also has good snorkeling. As you walk west, you'll reach a variety of coves, all with snorkeling. Snorkel Park: In the Dockyard. Good snorkeling towards the left as you face the water, towrads the yellow platform. Least attractive of all the beaches, very rocky bottom. There are many posts on snorkeling on the board. Have fun.
