kuddles14 Posted July 24, 2013 #1 Share Posted July 24, 2013 We haven't cruised Carnival in a while. I am sure there has been changes since our last cruise on Carnival some 10 years ago. Could some kind CC members please bring me up to date as to what I am allowed to bring on the ship. We are sailing on the Sensation August 18. Big important question...are there hair dryers on that ship? Can't be without a hair dryer. Am I allowed to bring a clothes steamer with us? Thank you. SkyMaster Posted July 24, 2013 #2 Share Posted July 24, 2013 I don't think Sensation will have hair dryers in the cabin, but you can ask your steward, and he/she will bring one for you to use. I personally, have a small hair dryer that I usually pack in my carry on, and have never had any problem bringing it aboard. I don't think you're supposed to bring any kind of an appliance that heats, like a steamer, but having said that, I've heard of folks who do bring 'em aboard as well. "SKY"

webehicks Posted July 24, 2013 #4 Share Posted July 24, 2013 Good morning. I'm sure that others will respond with better answers and/or links to precise information. But, to get you started, here's what I can tell you off the top of my head (and after only half a cup of coffee): Hair dryers: depends on what ship you're sailing. The older ships mainly just have them in the suites, so you may wan to go to carnival dot com, select a stateroom and check the list of amenities. Also - even on ships that have them, they are not as powerful as the ones that we use at home. So you may want to consider bringing your own, anyway. Steamers: not allowed and will be confiscated if found. Some may make it through in checked luggage, but I hear that there are quite a few of them on the table in the "naughty room". To take on board: each adult can bring on one bottle of wine (no more than 750 ml) and up to 12 20-oz beverages (water, pop, juice, etc.). They will check the bottles to make sure that they water has not been switched out for liquor. The beverages have to be carried on & not in checked luggage (these are the "official" Carnival rules - there are whole threads devoted to smuggling...). Hope that this helps a bit. I'm sure that other posters will have information, too!
woodey Posted July 24, 2013 #5 Share Posted July 24, 2013 from Carnival FAQ Do I need to pack my hair dryer? A hair dryer is provided in the bathroom (Destiny, Triumph, Victory) or at the desk/vanity in the stateroom (Spirit, Pride, Legend, Conquest, Glory, Miracle, Valor, Liberty, Freedom, Splendor and Dream). Hair dryers are not provided in the staterooms of all other ships. Are there restrictions on what we can bring aboard? Additionally, we reserve the right to confiscate (and destroy) any articles that in our discretion are considered dangerous or pose a risk or inconvenience to the safety and security of the ship, or our guests, and no compensation will be provided. Confiscated Items • Alcohol (hard liquor)/sealed, unopened bottles • Beer/sealed, unopened bottles/cans • Wine or champagne/sealed, unopened bottles - beyond the allowable limit of one bottle (750 ml. size) per adult 21 years of age (brought on at embarkation time only in their carry-on luggage) • Clothing irons and steamers (all Carnival ships offer laundry facilities with irons and ironing boards. Fleet-wide valet laundry service is also available for a nominal fee.) • Electrical and household appliances (i.e. coffee makers, hot plates, toasters, etc.) • Candles • Heating Pads • Incense • Hookah

I know that they are not very high powered but they work fine for my hair.
kuddles14 Posted July 24, 2013 Author #7 Share Posted July 24, 2013 Oh thank you everyone!!!! I will bring my hair dryer. Was surprised at no steamer. We travel Royal a lot and we can bring steamers. They actually sell them on board....BUT!!! They do not have a designated laundry area. Love it!!! That jogged my memory from the Destiny and now remember using it a lot for ironing!!! Do they charge to do wash in the laundry area? Not that I intend to use it other than ironing. But just in case ... What do they charge for laundry service. We do laundry on our cruises, that way we don't have to pack so much. It is $3 for wash, and $3 for dry, and I think detergent and fabric softener are a couple bucks each? You can get quarters at Guest Services, or the Casino cash cage. Happy Cruising!!

Thank you very much. Good to know. I wouldn't mind not having a mess to bring back home. Also, good to know if you spill something on yourself you hopefully won't have a stain.
