Gr8full Posted June 30, 2005 #1 Share Posted June 30, 2005 A friend and I have just booked our first cruise on the Inspiration in Sept. and I could use someone's opinion regarding cabin selection. When we booked yesterday we asked about the 2 category upgrade and instead of giving us the Riviera deck thay moved us up to the Main deck. For our first cruise we just booked an inside.Anyway they gave us room U56 which is in an elevator lobby with rooms above and below us.We are also not on the side that is up against an elevator,it is open so no worries the elevator noise. This room sounds pretty good but my friend called them today and they said this room was $399 and if we wanted we could book a guarantee for $379 (on the Riviera deck) and take our chances on the 2 category upgrade. The question is what would you do?Would you roll the dice on the guarantee or keep U56? Thanks for any help.:)
sportsterjohn Posted June 30, 2005 #2 Share Posted June 30, 2005 If the upgrade is in the same category, there really isn't any difference what deck you are on. The inside rooms on the lower decks will be identical to the inside rooms on the upper decks. Now there is always the possibility of being upgraded to an oceanview room but the chance of that is less than 50% If you are near midship and not directly under a disco or the galley, you probably are doing good with the assignment you got. The pools, casual dining etc are up on top but the dining, casino are on the lower decks. So eithor way you will have to climb stairs / elevator sometime or another. serene56 Posted July 1, 2005 #3 Share Posted July 1, 2005 Suppose you do go for the guarantee.... You will start back on the Riveria deck. and you lose your two cat upgrade. Doing an upgrade could place you anywhere at all on the ship... I for one would not want a cabin under the kids play room or under the disco.. I think you are fine in your location. serene56 Posted July 1, 2005 #5 Share Posted July 1, 2005 so your friend decided to go with the guarantee?? Please let us know when you find out your assingment how you made out? Now that you are booked- keep an eye on the price inccase your cruise comes down any. You can do that by going on Carnivals web page. Click on fun ship then Inspiration then scroll all the way down to find your cruise. Make believe you are booking a cruise for your week.. putting in the information. If it comes down any call your agent and ask for a refund.
