iluvcruzin Posted July 10, 2005 #2 Share Posted July 10, 2005 There's information on the RCCL website under excursions. It's a tourboat that serves rum punch and drinks while you ride to a spot for snorkling. From the look of the boat it's not a catamaran but your typical water taxi. I haven't been before but some from my upcoming cruise are planning to.
scubagirrl Posted July 11, 2005 #3 Share Posted July 11, 2005 Here's a couple of photos of the YellowBird. http://www.bahamas-treasures.com/bahamas/images/YellowBird.jpg http://www.bahamas-treasures.com/bahamas/images/yellowbird2.jpg The boat picks you up at the wharf near port, and takes you thru Nassau harbour past the bridges, forts, luxury homes and on to Pearl Island for a couple of hours of beach time. The Band plays a little island music and rum punch is served until you get to the island> The DJ points out places of interest etc. The Island is small, the beach is tiny, but pristine. There's a grill and daiguari bar, and you can rent snorkeling equipment (this is NOT included in the price of the tour). You can rent chairs for $5, but most people don't bother. Snorkeling from the beach is non-existant, but you can snorkel off the back (north) side of the island. Entry is a bit rough, since it's rocky and has only a few steps cut into the coral formations. On the return trip they pump up the music, DJ plays some fun dance tunes, soca and entertains with some local tunes. Rum punch flows and the there's a limbo contest. The ride to and from the island is about 40 minutes each way. Here's a photo of the PI lighthouse.. http://www.bahamas-treasures.com/bahamas/images/Pearl_Island_lighthouse.jpeg It's a fun trip.. not an adrenaline rush.. but fun.
