divaofdisney Posted July 6, 2005 #1 Share Posted July 6, 2005 I was wondering from you cruise experts what is really the best way to carry your formal wear? Do you use a garment bag or just fold them gently in your suitcases? I am just wondering if indeed I should purchase a garment bag? thanks for any opinions. Sassy Chassis Posted July 6, 2005 #2 Share Posted July 6, 2005 I've always been a fan of the garment bag, but if anyone has any better suggestions please let me know!
Radio Head Posted July 6, 2005 #3 Share Posted July 6, 2005 We appointed a separate suitcase, kept everything in the garment bags (we rented them), and folded them in half in the suitcase. They were fine. :)
It'sRC4ME Posted July 6, 2005 #4 Share Posted July 6, 2005 If you don't have a garment bag, it's usually fine to just put it in a dry cleaning bag and fold it up in your suitcase. Once you get on the ship, take it out and if it's really wrinkly, send it to be pressed (it's about $4 as I remember). If it's a natural fiber, such as wool, silk, rayone, etc, just hang it up in the bathroom while you shower and the wrinkles should fall right out. I wouldn't bother buying a garment bag if you don't have one already.
Rare skyking Posted July 6, 2005 #5 Share Posted July 6, 2005 I carry on a garment bag with my formal stuff a long with something to wear the first night at dinner, just in case our bags do not show up in time.....We have always got our bags, but it is nice to be prepared just in case. Boo's Mom Posted July 6, 2005 #6 Share Posted July 6, 2005 We use a Garment Bag that is also a suitcase. When it is loaded....it folds over and zips and is shipped just like any of the other suitcases. The garment bag has special features that help the clothing to not get wrinkled. I also pack the individual items in the bags from the drycleaners.

It is wonderful. My BF and I share one and pack all our nice clothes in it. In fact, we put as many items of clothes in it as possible so we have more room in our other suitcases. Mine also has space for shoes, etc. so I can bring even more shoes than I normally would.
