14 Days until Carnival Liberty - Let me know what you'd like to try to answer for you

Recommended Posts

We are on the Liberty at the present time. We are in Venice today. We were able to dock near St. Mark square because the captain is from here. It is hot and so crowded. The ship is beautiful, but the swimming pools are closed due to a pipe breaking and flooding the casino. But everything else is wonderful. Everyone on up coming cruises will love it.

Thanks for the update! Sorry to hear about the pool. Are you taking lots of pics? Do you plan to write a review? Have a great time in Venice.

OH NO....Sorry to hear about the pool! I hope they get it fixed prior to our 8/13 cruise my DD will be devastated with out a pool.

Venice was very hot & crowded when I was there last weeked and I think it will only get worse for the month of August. In the US at least people spread there Vacations over 3 months but not in Europe ...I swear 80% of Europeans take their vacation in August!

Enjoy the rest of your cruise ...I look forward to your trip report.

We have just booked the Sept. 18th cruise and are completely dumbfounded as to transfers from airport to port. We will actually arrive in Rome on Sept. 17th - early evening - so we'll probably stay near the airport (unless you or anyone else has other suggestions as to what we should do until cruise time.)

We'd love to hear about your tours and whether we should book them on the ship or when we are at port.

Marjac,

There is a Courtyard Marriott near the Airport which we are staying at and if you search on the Europe Port Board there is lots of info for transfers. We are driving to Rome so I can't help with specifics.

You should go to the Europe forum- lots of info. Also the Roll Call Board for Carnival and do a search for the Liberty 9/18/05. I know there is a thread on the roll call board for this date.

We are not going till end of September and are flying in on the morning of the cruise and will stay post cruise 1 day in Rome. Since this is our first cruise we have opted to use Carnival transportation to the port for embarkation and the hotel we are staying at post cruise is arranging our pickup from the port to the hotel. We already booked 4 tours through the carnival website and will do the some ports on our own.

Dawn5,

We are on the Aug.1st sailing. Is the casino OK? Not much of a pool person but I love to play in the casino. Please let us "casino lovers" know what's going on....

Thanks.

TO MARJAC: We have booked the hotel Antico Casale for next summer. a small but interesting hotel close to the airport and not to expensive. At less than 100 Euros a night with transfers from the airport at 5 euros per person this is a great bargain. check out the following site L'Antico Casale Hotel, near the Fiumicino Rome Airport Have a great trip "Papajack 30"

Thank you all for the suggestions. We are checking all the sites you suggested. Any and all information is welcome. We just booked this cruise last week so our search is alot less advanced than most of you. Please continue to send stuff. Much appreciated!

Hello All,

Although this being a new ship and all, there is very little information provided by Carnival about the ship to its passengers. Thanks to some other sources here is what I found.... http://community.webshots.com/album/396262410htiyDe THANKS RON for the GREAT pictures.

And this link also... http://www.7blueseas.com/cruiselines/ship.asp?id=99&page=0 this is more info than Carnival was able to provide it's guests.

Also on our cruise in particular they were unable to give us our cabin assignments in advance so we have to wait to board to find out..I find this strange since on past cruises with Carnival it was included in our package.

Anyone else on this particular cruise? Email me if you want.

Bob

Welcome to Cruise Critic

You do realize those deck plans are for Conquest and not Liberty. I would suggest going to your local TA and picking up the Liberty brochure. It has the correct deckplans and info on the ship.

Here are more shots of liberty, not sure if you have seen these, keep checking the site, as he will be updating it.

I'm mostly interested in how it was getting to the ship from the airport/hotel and how long it took and how was it getting off, are they doing self assist where you carry your own luggage off. Thanks for all your help.

Last question, did you enjoy the "Famous John Heald"?

Dawn,

My parents are sailing on Liberty's maiden voyage too! They are kind of elderly, and were supposed to e-mail me as soon as they got onboard. I haven't heard a word from them! I'm so worried, but my husband says they must be on there or we would have heard. I know this, but still. . . They are June and Romo Pagano, their cabin is inside close to the top deck (62 something something). I set her up on a yahoo account, and I'm thinking she just hasn't figured out how to do it, but gosh I wish someone could tell me they're safe. I have the Web Cam on, and look at it just about every hour of the day and night. I'm sorry about the pool. Is the casino out of commission too? That would upset my Dad, but not my Mom. Venice looks beautiful. Let us know how the cruise is going. I'm just SO glad to hear from someone who is actually onboard.

We are due to sail on the Liberty August 1st! We are very upset about the pool being out of commission. Please write to all of us and tell us if the plumbing problems are fixed or will be fixed. WE are all looking at the web cam!!! Venice looked beautiful. Hope you are enjoying yourself. We are anxiously awaiting hearing from you!!! Thanks for taking the time to write to all of us. That was very kind of you!! We were hoping SOMEONE would let us know how things were going. Godspeed!

WOW sounds like an interesting journey on the Liberty so far. I sure hope

they get the pools fixed for you folks - we are on 9/6 liberty Cruise and our

grands ( 3 and 5) will be most upset if they cannot swim in pools. What about the slide - is it not working either. I wondered why there seemed no one on deck in the daytime webcams except for sailaways - now I know.

I looked at the Venice port docking schedule and our cruise (9/6) will also be docking at the same place you were docked - all the other cruises will be

at another dock - I watched the sailaway and really felt like I would reach

out and touch the ship - cannot wait until we are aboard - let us know how it is going.......we are envious! Happy Sails to you.

We (Wife and I) are sailing the Liberty on 9/18/05. Any interested parties in taking excursions together and taking a shuttle to the ship from Rome. We are flying into Rome a day earlier.

Hi Ron and Mare, we are arriving in Rome a day before the cruise also but our hotel has a minibus that will take us to the port for 100 euros on the 18th, so we think we're going that way. We have not booked any tours yet and would definitely like to hear what you come up with. Booking through Carnival seems a little expensive to us - perhaps going as a group on our own would be better let's try to work together.

Regards,

Jack and Maritza

You may want to post this on the Roll Call board for the Liberty 9/18/05 sailing if you haven't already done so. Here is the thread:

You may get more responses.

Thank you for the tip on the hotel. We have booked it for our first night in Rome (9/17). The rate was right and so were the transfers. The staff (via email) has been very friendly and helpful. We are staying in Rome post cruise for three days but we did not book those nights because we thought we'd wait and see how we like the hotel before we commit to more days. Have you actually stayed there?

Regards,

Jack and Maritza

Hi

We are looking into a limo tour from Naples to Pompei, Amalfi and possibly Sorrento. Also maybe the same kind of tour out of Livorno to Siena and the tuscany region. I am in the process of getting prices from reputable drivers recommended through this site. I'll keep you posted. We will probably take the train from the airport directly to the Termini Station, where we are staying in Rome and then take the train to the port. It is much less expensive than through the cruise lines. But it is alot less of a headache.

Later, Mare and Ron
