Joyful Joyful Posted September 25, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 25, 2013 I have a question about the bands that are currently playing on Explorer. Does anyone know if there are any bands that are native to the Philippines? The reason I ask is that my husband played in a band many years ago on a cruise ship (he is originally from the Philippines), and last year when we took the family on a cruise on the Carnival Glory, he hooked up on the first night with a Filipino band on board. Every evening we ended up in whichever lounge/club where they were playing, and of course he ended up playing with them most every evening, too. Re-living the old days, and we had a blast! The even better part of it is that all three of our boys (two 21 years olds, and a 20 year old, at the time) are all musicians, each playing two or more instruments (just like their Dad!), and they also got to jam with the band onboard. I was in heaven watching them, so proud, and they absolutely loved it! They are very proud of their Filipino culture, and to get to hobnob with other Filipino musicians, it couldn't get any better than that! I know that he will ask me if there was a Filipino band on the Explorer (I am sailing this coming Sunday!), so I thought I'd ask if anyone on this board knows. Thanks everyone! Cigar King Posted September 25, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 25, 2013 A fair number of the musicians on the Explorer looked like it to me. You'll know for sure when you board her again. Enjoy your cruise.
lakelorain Posted September 27, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 27, 2013 There are several bands from the Philippines on Royal Caribbean ships. However, they move from ship to ship so it is hard to say if there will be one on your cruise. We have enjoyed many of them on the Explorer and other ships. Hope you have one on your cruise.
