Oasis Vs. Getaway (Breakaway)

Hi Cruisers! :)

I had scheduled a trip on the Oasis for my family in January (me, husband, 8 year old, 70ish mom) but I had to push it back because of work. My husband and I went on the Allure 2 years ago and loved it. We scheduled an Eastern because we always seem to go on Westerns, so we wanted something a little different.

Well, the price for February was quite a bit higher. And I'd been considering the Epic before, so I started looking at NCL and noticed that the Getaway was going to be available and only a few weeks old. It looked like maybe some of the kinks in the Epic I'd heard about had been worked out. And the idea of a brand new ship seems exciting.

So, I'm thinking of switching to the Getaway. But I always seem to hear from Royal folks that NCL is not as good. We always pay for the specialty restaurants anyway, so that is not a concern. It does seem like Oasis is larger than Breakaway, but we really love entertainment, and it looks like there is a lot on both.

Has anyone done Oasis/Allure and the Breakaway, which seems to be closest comparison? What did you think, especially with a family? Will I be disappointed with the Getaway compared to Oasis/Allure? I've never been on NCL, so....

Thanks!
