If you book an "on your own" land package through Princess, how flexible is that. What things can you change/add?

 

If you are doing 2 nights in Denali, can you stay in 1 lodge or do you always have to move for the 2nd night?

The same itinerary is followed for On Your Own compared to Denali Explorer cruisetours. Some of the prescheduled activities are not included. You might also find that the Direct to the Wilderness train option is not offered on some of the On Your Own tours. These are not independent tours! Want freedom then set up an independent tour where you decide the itinerary and choose from the many options that Alaska has to offer.

Where did you get the idea that you change rooms on a two-night stay? All Princess tours you stay in the same room while you're at each site.

Some of the cruisetours include McKinley Princess Lodge as well as Denali. There is no option about these overnights; these are separate lodges some distance apart. Better to be on a tour with 2 nights at Denali and 0 at McKinley.

I only see 2 and 1 and 1 and 1 didn't see just 2 nights in Denali without mt McKinley but I will check!

Sorry, getting clearer, but...

 

Is it worth getting a car at the Airport in Anchorage and exploring or are there buses and other transportation?

 

If we drive to a lodge close to Denali entrance can we just take bus to Eielson or Tundra Wilderness Tour?

 

What, besides Tour far in to Denali is an absolute must do in the area. We are flexible on amount of days for our land portion.
