polodad Posted May 14, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 14, 2004 Booked a cabin on the Mercury & did not realize that it appears to be directly above Fortunes casino. I am concerned about the noise factor (ALL those frequent jackpots, lol). Has anyone had a cabin in this area (8160) on the Mercury or Century? What was your experience? Thanks. hdawson Posted May 14, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 14, 2004 Did your TA advise you of the location of your cabin prior to booking it? Book a gty?
polodad Posted May 14, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted May 14, 2004 TA did not advise. My main concern had been on a cabin somewhat midship due to girlfriend's motion sickness and vibration from thrusters at rear. We had been in 8116 on Century & I had been really satisfied with that (shops underneath). I did not look at the ship's plan when booking this. My concern with a guarantee is that the cabin may be extremely forward or aft. hdawson Posted May 14, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 14, 2004 Remember the lowest location of the ships have the least motion. On Century my aft cabin was one of the best ever.
polodad Posted May 14, 2004 Author #5 Share Posted May 14, 2004 I guess I'm confused. I understand that the lower decks have less motion, but I'm not sure how that relates to an aft cabin. I'm aware that the view is great & the aft cabins are larger and may have balconies, However, the two times we ate breakfast in the Grand Restaurant on the Century we were seated at the very AFT end & we couldn't stand how much vibration was present there. My question remains. Any idea how much noise in cabin above the casino? tuggers Posted May 14, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 14, 2004 I've always been told that the noise goes down, not up. To worry about what's over you but what's under you isn't a problem. I don't think I ever remember having a cabin where I was aware of anything below me. I think you'll be fine. Until the Zenith! Second X Cruise In Two Months!
