Meeting someone off the cruise ship & parking

Will be meeting someone off the NCL cruise ship in Dec and am wondering the best way to meet them. I will have a car but don't know the best way to pick them up.

 

The plan is to spend a few hours walking around the french quarter.

 

Is there are parking areas, that I could park for the day, that is near the Julie Street terminal and where I could walk to just outside the terminal to meet them. We are wanting to spend a few hours after the cruise to walk around the french quarter. To me it sounds better to park first than to drive around the congested terminal area. My friend won't have any luggage as they are a member of the ship's crew.

There are several parking lots in that area, especially along Convention Center Boulevard, with parking by the hour. You should have no problem finding a spot.
