moki'smommy Posted November 4, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 4, 2013 (edited) Grand Cayman is probably the safest and easiest island DCL visits. I have NO hesitation about a taxi there. The island is known for financial an health industries and is still under British rule. It is VERY used to dealing with Americans. Our driver was great...each and every time! Compared to Nassau or Cozumel....GC is a totally different world. Edited November 4, 2013 by moki'smommy

Jenna109 Posted November 4, 2013 #4 Share Posted November 4, 2013 We have been several times to the beach on Grand Cayman by using the mini busses. They are waiting at the taxi line and the cost was $4 per person. Only two of us then so cheaper than a taxi. They take you to a hotel with beach access and then you can use beach facilities for a small charge. They are waiting in line to return you to the ships. No problems and no worries. We will use them when taking our grandson.
moki'smommy Posted November 4, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 4, 2013 ALL beaches in Grand Cayman are free. You can be charged to use facilities (which may be privately owned), but no one can charge a fee to sit on a beach. There are little brown signs that indicate beach access (again, beach is free, but can't trespass on private property to get there.) Many nice beaches have people renting chairs, umbrellas, selling food, etc. These same vendors will happily call a cab for you if there is not one waiting. There is a public bus to 7 Mile and Sea Grape Beach. Cost used to be $1 per person each way, although I've read somewhere that it increased. As noted, there are the mini-vans and taxis that will take you for a slightly higher fee. These are nicer and more convenient than a cab and as noted, standard cost is $4-5 per person. If you want to pay a hotel to use their pool, change rooms, etc. that is certainly possible. But they will happily take you to a beach where you can rent whatever you wish and not pay a "cover charge" or package fee.
