items left in cabins

In poorer countries we have often left much of our stuff behind for the maid. Many years ago my DH even left his jeans for the barman:)

 

On cruises we have generally in addition to a cash tip left toiletries. Some of these to save room in our cases going back but others specifically expensive perfumes and aftershaves as we thought the crew would like them.

 

I was speaking to a friend yesterday and she said they probably all get thrown away as have been opened. I hope this isn't the case does anyone know?
