Stickman505 Posted November 12, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 12, 2013 We have booked a Bucket List trip to French Polynesia on Marina in 2015. We will be stopping at the following ports of call: Moorea Raiatea Bora Bora Rangiroa Fakarava We love to snorkel and am wondering if it is necessary to book an actual snorkeling tour or can we easily find snorkeling spots on our own at some or all of the above POCs. We enjoy reading everyone's posts and thank everyone in advance for their suggestions.
Tikiintahiti Posted November 12, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 12, 2013 (edited) You will want to book a tour or 2 .......... Nothing really good close to the tender frop off location or docks. On Bora Bora your best choices are: Patrick's, Christopher's or Rannui On Raiatea you will want to do the drift snorkel with Bruno On Rangiora your best bet will be snorkeling in the pass or the Aquarium On Moorea the best snorkeling will be at the Hilton or between the motus on the northwest side of the island On Fakarava you will want to do the Blue Lagoon Edited November 12, 2013 by Tikiintahiti
shipcat Posted January 27, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 27, 2014 The best snorkeling in Fakarava ist near the Tuamotu Pass (South Pass) and the pink sands. It is fantastic. But it is a long, bumpy ride (1,5-2 hours). But it is worth. We did both, the blue lagune and the Tuamotu Pass.
