dapod423 Posted November 12, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 12, 2013 Can you reserve a clam shell prior to arriving on the island? Last time we went on the Gem and they were all gone by the time we got off the tender at 1030am! Thanks

dalgirl Posted November 12, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 12, 2013 I think you can also pre book at the website. We didn't since the weather can be iffy, but if you are worried, you can do it. We just made sure we got off on an early tender and were the first folks to get our shell:)
dapod423 Posted November 12, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted November 12, 2013 Thank you both for the quick replies. I looked on the site and you could pre-book the cabanas but not the clamshells. I'll take another look though.

emcelh Posted November 12, 2013 #6 Share Posted November 12, 2013 Try to get there on the first tender. Otherwise you'll be back a row or two with the view of another clamshell in front of you. Also, try to get one with mesh in the back for ventilation. They're a bit cooler.
limeyalchemist Posted November 12, 2013 #7 Share Posted November 12, 2013 (edited) Yes I did by going to the shore excursion desk once I boarded Russianmom, You can only book clamshells when on board. They cost $29 and include priority tender tickets, so you can get on one of the first tenders. Due to weather, GSC is often not visited as it can be tricky tendering. We've been lucky, successfully made it both times we have been. Next week will be the third time. If you do miss out due to weather, you will be credited back the fee of the clamshell. One other thing, they are first come firstly served once on the island, and the front row has nice views over the beach. Those go quickly. We got there later and ended up with a third row clamshell, and could only see the clamshells in front of us. Also, some have ventilation screens, some don't. It is REALLY hot in them if you don't get ventilation. Hope that helps. Edited November 12, 2013 by limeyalchemist

whtbearfan Posted November 17, 2013 #11 Share Posted November 17, 2013 So the clam shells are $29. How do they charge it? To the room or to one person in the room? Just want to make sure we are not charged twice. How do the priority tickets work? Do you get a ticket for the room or does each person get a ticket? Sorry for all the questions.
