Wave Forecast for the Gulf?

Friends just returned from cruise in the Gulf of Mexico. They said it was really rough going and coming. Captain made a comment about a weather system that had been in place for a while. I was wondering if anyone just returned and had any info on the conditions they experienced, or any info on forecasts for the immediate future?

I just came back on Saturday from a 9 day cruise. The ship rocked the whole 9 days but it didn't bother me at all!!

We had a cool system here in FL last couple of days, winds were high and we have had 3 boats/one trimaran sunk when they came loose from the marina's and hit bridges.
