Gma&Gpa Posted November 21, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 21, 2013 My friends (new cruisers) booked a cruise on the Valor out of San Juan for next month. I know the ship doesn't leave until late evening (I think 10:00 PM) - but what time can they start boarding the ship?
agc291 Posted November 21, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 21, 2013 You can start to board as early as noon, once the debarkation from the previous cruise has completed. You also can board, and then leave and walk around San Juan. You must be back on board by 8 or
seashinesunshine Posted November 22, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 22, 2013 My friends (new cruisers) booked a cruise on the Valor out of San Juan for next month. I know the ship doesn't leave until late evening (I think 10:00 PM) - but what time can they start boarding the ship? They can expect to get on about noon, we have done this twice, but on the Victory. Both times we have been in our rooms before 130 and then gone off the ship. It's like a bonus port day. Even though the ship leaves at 10, you do need to be back on by around 8. Muster drill etc. Great Itinerary, they will have a great cruise! kingoftheicedragons Posted November 22, 2013 #4 Share Posted November 22, 2013 You can check in starting at around 10:30 or so (expect half an hour variance either way depending on how quickly the ship got cleared through customs on the last cruise). When we did this cruise, we checked in around 10:45 (with essentially no lines whatsoever) and then they started boarding the ship a few minutes before 12, I believe. Bags usually get delivered to your room very early. Even though you have more time to get to the ship by flying in the same day, I would still recommend arriving at least the day before to give you some time to explore San Juan, the rain forest, or even other parts of Puerto Rico...you spent the money to fly there, shouldn't you at least get the most out of your trip to the island as well? mainescout Posted November 22, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 22, 2013 We got to the port at 11:00, and we were enjoying our first drinks by 11:45. There were not a lot of people waiting to get on at that time so it went quickly. We were given zone 7, but it was only a few minutes between zones.
