Good Place to Get Clams and Mussels in NOLA

My DH would like to have a meal of clams and mussels while we are in NO. Any suggestions on a restaurant? It doesn't need to be anything fancy, just some good food. I'd prefer shrimp or crawfish or something else so a varied menu would be good.

We will be in the French Quarter and are staying in the garden district so anyplace handy to either location would be fine.

Clams and mussels are not local seafood. They usually show up as appetizers, and tend to be expensive.

Stick with the local products: shrimp, oysters, crawfish, crabs and fish. Deanie's on Iberville Street would be a good choice. Quality is very good, locally owned, prices are reasonable and portions large.

I would pass on Deanie's unless you want a heart attack on plate of fried seafood. If you want fried, then go for it, but the rest of their seafood is pretty mediocre. There are much better places for seafood than Deanie's. I would try Red Fish Grill, Acme Oyster House, Pascal's Manale or Drago's.

Tough question.

GW Fins in the FQ is a seafood restaurant that gets some seafood from outside the region. But New Orleans restaurants rely heavily on local seafood, and clams and mussels appear on the menu of very few restaurants.

There are some French bistro type restaurants that may feature mussels. You may wish to do a Google search.
