allison0523 Posted December 25, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 25, 2013 We went on the Paradise 5 day cruise on Dec. 14. We had $300 in OBC and our final bill was $275 because the OBC basically covered our tips. However, we had 3 other charges to our credit card by Carnival during the cruise (on days 4 and 5 I believe). They were odd amounts of approx. 90, 20 and 60 dollars. I tried calling Carnival the other day to see what the charges were for but was put on hold for 20 minutes with no idea how long it was going to take to speak to someone. So, I emailed them and they said it could take up to a week to get a response. While I am waiting for their response, I just wondered if anyone else has had charges during their cruise in additional to the final sail and sign charge. We didn't do any excursions with Carnival. Thanks and Merry Christmas!
dwightnwynonia Posted December 25, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 25, 2013 Do you have the statement of your account if so that will tell you where the charges come from fun shops = onboard stores entertainment = casino also if you used your debit cards they may be holds on your card that might be released Sent from my SPH-L710 using Forums mobile app

Plus these are odd amounts with cents so I don't think they are holds.
RuthlessBoss Posted December 25, 2013 #4 Share Posted December 25, 2013 Who was on the cruise with you? Maybe the charges came from that person.
allison0523 Posted December 25, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted December 25, 2013 Do anyone know if they charge immediately for certain items on the ship maybe? We have just always settled the account the last day.
cruiserlovr Posted December 25, 2013 #6 Share Posted December 25, 2013 On our last cruise we had the same thing going on but they were holds and after the final accounting disappeared from our credit card.
luddite Posted December 25, 2013 #7 Share Posted December 25, 2013 They are probably holds that will go away. They only hit the card once for final payment of the total. This is another reason why you should never, ever use a debit card for this.
allison0523 Posted December 25, 2013 Author #8 Share Posted December 25, 2013 It is not a debit card. It is a credit card only.
luddite Posted December 26, 2013 #9 Share Posted December 26, 2013 It is not a debit card. It is a credit card only. I knew that. Still, it is probably a hold.
Flutie03 Posted December 26, 2013 #10 Share Posted December 26, 2013 On our last cruise we had the same thing going on but they were holds and after the final accounting disappeared from our credit card. This is how it was for me. Multiple hold (pending charges) that disappeared a few days later and my bill posted. Just temporary holds. allison0523 Posted December 27, 2013 Author #11 Share Posted December 27, 2013 Carnival got back to me today and they were holds that took longer than normal to come off. We have been on 5 cruises and this is the first time I have ever noticed a hold and they just seemed like strange amounts. A $19 hold seems like a low amount. Happy cruising! A lot of us never noticed. I stumbled on my holds accidentally a few cruises back. I now do just the cash option.
