Stuff to do at Pier?

Do I need to book a tour in St. Lucia, or will there be plenty to do at the pier - shopping, food, drinks, etc....?

Thanks!

There is a lot to do in this port at the pier. Nice walk along the sidewalk to a huge shopping area, some fancy and some more local, but I could spend hours there. You can take a water taxi back across the bay yoo, I think it was 2$. We have not gone much beyond the shops due to excursions taking up too much time, but in 2011 my in laws were with us and they spent the day walking around the town and really enjoyed it. They walked up to a big church that you can see from the port. It was an enjoyable day for them without paying for an excursion.
