Also Just Back - Voyager 7/10 to Bermuda

Recommended Posts

Since so much has been said, I will just highlight the things I DID NOT know from reading these posts:

1) The first night, the clocks are set forward to Atlantic time (so you lose an hour). Imagine my surprise when I went to get ice tickets and they were closed (I later found out about the time change). The time change was in a very tiny corner of the Day 1 Compass. In the past, this has been prominently displayed on the Compass. The time is changed back on the last night of the cruise (so you gain an hour).

2) Bermuda - This is a very expensive port. The only thing I picked up was a Tiffany baby spoon for my nephew's baptism. The cruise ship is much cheaper (but, selections are very limited). If you want Bacardi Silver from the ship, buy it as soon as you see it (we did not and they ran out by the end of the cruise).

3) Helmet Dive - We did the Helmet dive through the cruise ship. My only comment on this was, seen it, done it, don't need to do it again. It was okay but nothing great.

4) Pool Chairs - For the person that asked, they do have "half" reclining chairs with a foot rest, most of which are directly next to the pool.

5) The shopping in the Dockyard - don't bother - you are better off taking the Ferry to Hamilton. Since the ship was in port, they were running extra ferries (which worked out great). I would highly recommend the use of the ferries.

That's about it. Overall, we found the service to be okay (nothing great). We tipped accordingly (gave the cabin attendant a phone card we did not end up using for giving us robes) but did not tip extra. Also, towel animals were missing the first two nights (the second of which was formal night) and then began appearing the next three nights. To be honest, since this was our third time in a row sailing this ship, I doubt we'll be back (unless there is a great price and itinerary.

We did have our first "hump" cabin (7324) and enjoyed it. We found the balcony to be deeper on one side more so than the other. The cabin was conveniently located near the elevators and there was no noise.

The best part? We won about $370 in the casino. Also, we came home to find out that our next cruise has dropped $100 p/psn (that credit will pay off our onboard charges!).

Questions? Please feel free to ask.

No, dinner the first night (if you have second seating) is actually 8:45 pm. The second through fifth night is at 8:30 pm. Technically, with moving the clocks ahead, you are really eating dinner at 7:30 pm the second night instead of 8:30 pm; however, if you go by the ship's clock, you'll be fine.

We will be taking this cruise in August. I was curious about dinner attire each night....

Let's see if I have this correct (from a Compass posted in a May '05 thread)

Day 1: Casual

2: Formal

3: Smart Casual/Caribbean

4:Casual 50s, 60s, 70s attire

5: Casual

Was this pretty much the same as on your 5-day Bermuda cruises? I would think that it would not vary from sailing to sailing.

Just curious as to your observations/experience with dinner attire...how casual was casual?

Thanks

Must agree, the food and the ship were just OK. Nothing special. I prefer the radiance class better. The ships are smaller, better service and much better food. Less people and less crowds. The last morning it seemed there were 2000 people in the lines for breakfast with no tables. I thought I was on a Carnival ship, for the price I paid to go on Voyager I should have saved a few hundred and went on Carnival.

Sounds like you had a great time. I do agree, after being on the Caribbean Princess that service on the Voyager is just ok - and that's fine - as long as it doesn't drop below ok.

We also have a hump cabin- 7620 - we're right in the middle, so I wonder of it will be longer and even on both sides.

We also doubt we'll be back on the Voyager after the August cruise- unless a good deal, also. We now like trying different ships.

Take care.
