kenandlaura06 Posted July 17, 2005 #1 Share Posted July 17, 2005 We will be flying into Miami late after our wedding--recommendations for a nice hotel to splurge on ($250 or less) for our wedding night and the night before we leave on our honeymoon cruise. jerseygirl3 Posted July 18, 2005 #2 Share Posted July 18, 2005 I've heard the JW Marriott in Miami is very nice. I believe the Mandarin is also in Miami, but I think that will be way over your budget.
TrentS Posted July 18, 2005 #3 Share Posted July 18, 2005 Well from your countdown clock it looks like your dates are going to be about a year from now so that helps a lot as the prices are considerably less at the high end hotels in the summer than in winter! For something really special you may want to check the following hotels, as they pretty much all have various "deals" in the summer. You may want to call the hotels directly though. In downtown Miami try the Mandarin Oriental... http://www.mandarinoriental.com/hotel/526000001.asp Or the Four Seasons... http://www.fourseasons.com/miami/index.html In Coral Gables try the Biltmore... http://www.biltmorehotel.com/ On South Beach try the Ritz-Carlton... http://www.ritzcarlton.com/resorts/south_beach/ Or the Hotel Victor... http://hotelvictorsouthbeach.com/ Or for something a bit more out of the way, yet only a few miles from downtown Miami, try the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne... http://www.ritzcarlton.com/resorts/key_biscayne/
kenandlaura06 Posted July 18, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted July 18, 2005 Thanks for the recommendations--Does anyone know of any hotels that are members of the Starwood Preferred Guest program???
TrentS Posted July 18, 2005 #5 Share Posted July 18, 2005 None of the Starwood hotels are anywhere near as "special" or in the same calibur of the above hotels, and none of them are as close to the Port of Miami, but the nicest two in the area are the Sheraton Bal Harbour... http://www.sheratonbalharbourresort.com/ Or the Westin Diplomat on Hollywood Beach... http://www.diplomatresort.com/

Lasher_2 Posted July 21, 2005 #13 Share Posted July 21, 2005 Congrats on your upcoming wedding! We stayed at the Palms South Beach precruise and had a wonderful experience. We were able to book a oceanview room for $149 directly with the hotel. Called the concierge (Jennifer) and ordered flowers for our anniversary ($35) huge tropical arrangement. Which were delivered by the Jennifer within minutes of our checking in! We were also able to check in early and stay until 1:30 p.m. After checking out we had a long wait until our ship set sail so we took advantage of the bagage storage and relaxed by the pool and beach for a bit. Food was decent in the restaruant as were the drinks in the bar. Drinks are 1/2 price during happy hour. Only caution is to check your bill everywhere in SOBE puts the gratutity on the bill regardless of how small your party is. We found this to be true in some of the small establishments in SOBE. While you might not be in the heart of SOBE you are a stones throw away (via a walk down the boardwalk or $5 cab ride). Our only regret is not staying there for an extra night post cruise. Stayed at the Marriot by the Port of Miami was a basic, clean but nothing special hotel.
