Jeep or Dune Buggies???

We have rented a jeep twice in Cozumel, most recently in December. We rented from Alamo. It was a brand new 2014 jeep wrangler with a/c and radio. (The first jeep we rented had neither...). It was an amazing day, we drove the island, stopped where we wanted, took our time and truly enjoyed our day. The total cost with full coverage insurance was $110. We'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Has anyone rented a jeep or dune buggy? Do you ever get to "cut up" a little, or are they real strict???? Do they have it in Prog. or Coz.??? Thank you so much!

Wife and I rented a jeep in Coz . We had a lot of fun. Should you decide to rent one. Be sure to have the bikini top on and wear sunscreen. Wife's arms got blistered .

We rented 2 dune buggies in Coz. Best time ever! Don't go with a tour group, just rent them at the pier. We got 2 for $90 for the whole day. Drove the entire island, had lunch at the lighthouse, hung out on the beach, saw the crocodiles, saw some ruins and had many cervesa at roadside stops. Would do it again in a heartbeat!

How did you get the Jeep with a/c? Luck of the draw, or did you reserved ahead of time?

All of the Jeep rentals I have seen, from multiple companies, do not have a/c.

It wasn't "luck of the draw"- Alamo has all new jeeps. They are white and 2014 models. We were there in December and rented then. Ours had less than 300 miles on it. All have a/c. Our friends were there with us and rented one just like ours. We rented from the Alamo office at the pier. (Puerta Maya). I've tried to attach an image of one of them, I'm afraid it's not very clear... Sorry I have a better picture of them on my computer at home. I'll try to upload it later today.

Ok, thanks.

On the Alamo site I am showing the Jeep with no a/c and full insurance at $136. The SUV with a/c and full insurance is $162.

Will most likely just go with a mid-size a/c, full insurace for $82.

Thought about renting from a local company Blueway or ISIS, but the ease of renting at the pier is worth the additional $15-$20.
