45014 Posted January 19, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 19, 2014 I hope I won't be flamed for this post! Is it possible to make reservations for dinner in the main dining room if you are using ATD? Our last cruise (not on Carnival) we could call in the afternoon or even go to the dining room before we wanted to have dinner, and ask to have an assigned time for our dinner. The reason I am asking, is because we are traveling with our grandchildren and don't really know when their stomaches may need to be refilled. Thanks for any info that anyone can offer. Onceuponatime Posted January 19, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 19, 2014 No. On our cruise in December we could not call to make reservations in the MDR with ATD.
Xmansmom Posted January 19, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 19, 2014 I don't believe that is possible. I believe you have to go to the restaurant and be put on the list.

Sue Do-Over Posted January 20, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 20, 2014 Its the same menu in an identical dining room... stick to ATD, and go when the kids are hungry (or cleaned up for dinner in the MDR). Anytime after the first 15-minute rush, and you'll be seated pretty quickly. EXCEPT, large groups often wait for tables when using ATD. If your group is 8 or more... switch to early dining, and just plan to eat then. With a scheduled time, you can plan snacks appropriately for the kids.
