EliteQueen Posted January 20, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 20, 2014 (edited) Pretty excited over here! After months of discussions, cruising of these board and suggestions to find a TA who specializes in Disney (Thanks to Moki'sMommy for the tips on how to find one that works for us), we DID IT! :D We are booked for our first Disney cruise. Only 365 days to go! Edited January 20, 2014 by EliteQueen

moki'smommy Posted January 21, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 21, 2014 365 days....that is one long tear off chain.:) First time is amazing. You'll have a blast planning, dreaming, etc. But then, 30th time is amazing too! Please ask anything here that you want to know...or contact me privately if you wish. There is a wealth of info from lots of good sources here, and each of us has our own opinion and experiences. Now, plan to fly in at least one day early. This is really important to getting the cruise off to a great start. Which ship? How old will kids be (if any?) What matters most--convenience, cost, etc? Those answers will determine may of your choices for before and during the cruise. Have a super time....now and in a year.

We are super excited and plan to make it a Christmas surprise for our kids. They will be 7, 5 and 1 at the time of cruising. We are on the Fantasy, Itinerary C. Cost is definitely a factor but with three kids, convenience is important too! We are looking forward to having a great time and taking advantage of all that Disney and the ship has to offer. Without question we will be flying in the day before and I'm hoping that since we have booked so far in advance, it will give me ample opportunity to find reasonable flights. We started working with a TA and she has been awesome. I'm glad I took your advice and found one that is full service (and as it turns out, close to home!) I'm doing the happy dance! moki'smommy Posted January 22, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 22, 2014 OK, some thoughts....with a 1 year old, you don't have to pay for DCL transfers on that child. SO cost of DCL transfer is about the same as limo service. Least costly but most effort is a rental car, but adding 3 car seats makes that expensive (Budget is $12 per car seat.) If you are using them on the plane and use a Budget rental both ways, they will store them for you at their Cocoa Beach location (no need to take them on the ship!). Another option--Hyatt Place NW offers round trip transportation to/from port as a special package. Nice hotel, breakfast included. Wyndham and Hampton near MCO have similar deals; Wyndham costs more and has worse service. No personal experience with Hampton. Towncar/limo service will include car seats and will allow you a 15-30 minute stop at a Walmart or grocery store if needed. (never know what you'll forget with 3 kids....)
