CountryCruiser Posted January 26, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 26, 2014 Anybody have any information on the La Quinta Inn in La Porte? Staying there the night before our cruise out of Bayport. Appears to be a great rate.
Shekim Posted January 27, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 27, 2014 Anybody have any information on the La Quinta Inn in La Porte? Staying there the night before our cruise out of Bayport. Appears to be a great rate. I have never stayed there; funny, I drive by there often and never really "noticed" the LQ there. I just plugged in the address to see where it is. There is a couple of little places near there to eat and/or hang out. But most is on the other side of Hwy 146; and that is a very busy intersection. What, specifically, are you looking for? The area is so so. That is a pretty industrial area, La Porte.
CountryCruiser Posted January 27, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted January 27, 2014 Just curious if it was an ok place to stay the night before cruise and park car there for the week. Don't need fancy. Just safe and clean. It was a very good price.

CountryCruiser Posted January 29, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted January 29, 2014 I don't think it's unsafe; just not a great area. I think you should be fine. How are you getting to the port? That's our other issue to figure out. There are 12 of us. A shuttle at $20 each is crazy. Probably going to drive 2 cars to port to deliver everyone and luggage and then drive back to hotel and leave 1 there and park other one back at port. Any other ideas for reasonable money would be appreciated.
sminfiddle Posted January 29, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 29, 2014 (edited) I have not stayed at that La Quinta but I enjoy the restaurant next door, Baytown Seafood. We stayed at the Candlewood Suites a block away, ate at Baytown Seafood the night before the cruise. Candlewood has cruise parking at $20 for the week and a Port Shuttle for either $8 per person, or $5 per person (depending on which shuttle operator is serving them that day). Room was big and clean with a full kitchen, I mean plates, kitchen table and a full-size fridge and everything. Kroger supermarket is right across Fairmont Pkwy (walkable) and Waffle House is next door. Several other fast-food joints are nearby with Monster Tacos open Mon-Friday one of my favorites. The area is blue-collar and I enjoy the lower prices that that brings. I would not call it a "bad neighborhood" from my own experiences, the Yacht Club is there. :) Edited January 29, 2014 by sminfiddle etaoin shrdlu
CountryCruiser Posted January 31, 2014 Author #7 Share Posted January 31, 2014 Did some research and was able to come up with a good plan in case anyone has the same situation. Staying at La Quinta in La Porte. Great rate. Parking cars there for the week. Getting our group of 12 shuttled to the port and back by www.houstontravelzone.com Shot them an email and they replied with a great deal for our group. Now its time to just watch the calendar.
