Fort Lauderdale Hotels--Wedding Night

In Fort Lauderdale I would only consider the top few for something as special as a wedding night, but I'll list them from the best of the best down to the more mainstream...

St. Regis (opening in January 2006)... http://www.starwoodhotels.com/stregis/search/hotel_detail.html?propertyID=1512

The Atlantic... http://www.starwoodhotels.com/luxury/search/hotel_detail.html?propertyID=1475

Lago Mar... http://www.lagomar.com/

Harbor Beach Marriott... http://www.marriottharborbeach.com/

Pelican Beach Resort... http://www.pelicanbeach.com/

Hyatt Pier 66... http://pier66.hyatt.com/property/index.jhtml

Renaissance... http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/FLLBR

Since you're cruising out of Miami you may also wish to consider something between Fort Lauderdale and Miami. These are all very nice hotels as well...

Hollywood Beach Marriott... http://www.hollywoodbeachmarriott.com/

Westin Diplomat... http://www.diplomatresort.com/Public/index.asp

Le Meridian Sunny Isles Beach... http://www.lemeridien.com/usa/miami/hotel_us1840.shtml

Trump Sonesta Beach... http://www.sonesta.com/SunnyIsles/

Or even the Seminole Hard Rock... http://www.seminolehardrockhollywood.com/

Any reviews of the Westin Diplomat?

I haven't seen many reviews of the Diplomat here, but there are many at http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g34296-Hollywood_Florida-Hotels.html Ignore the reviews about the lack of beach as Hollywood is in the middle of a beach renourishment project (where they basically add sand to the beach) and the Diplomat has a 200 ft. beach as of last month.

I have stayed there a couple of times...if money were no object, I would stay there often. The place is gorgeous, but EVERYTHING there is expensive. It has a large conference center so many of it's guests are on expense accounts. I have found the service to be less than stellar, a little on the snobby side. The Marriott Hollywood Beach is a much smaller, less grand hotel, but the price is probably much more palatable.
