can'twaitcruiser Posted July 21, 2005 #1 Share Posted July 21, 2005 Hi all First time cruisers, we leave this Sunday on the Conquest. OH Yeah! We plan to snorkel in Cayman, probably at Eden Rock, Devil's Grotto, Smith Cove. We have reserved a car so may try some other sites too (have a map of the island). The question is about showering. Do you feel all YUCKY afterwards from the salt water? We want to do a little shopping before heading back to the ship, will we want/need to shower first? If so, where? We're from Kansas, no oceans here. Just man-made lakes:p . Thanks to all who reply. can'twaitcruiser
bruce-r Posted July 21, 2005 #2 Share Posted July 21, 2005 Salt water does indeed make you feel kinda funky, especially your hair, but it shouldn't be quite bad enough to keep you from a little shopping before heading back to the ship. I wouldn't worry very much about it, but if you are near a dive shop when you do your last snorkel, they often have outside showers. There are 2 dive shops close to Eden Rock. They are http://www.edenrockdive.com/ and http://abanksdivers.com.ky/
JiminyCricket Posted July 21, 2005 #3 Share Posted July 21, 2005 We snorkeled Eden Rock/Devils Grotto from Eden Rock dive center. They have outside fresh water dip tanks to rinse your equipment and a fresh water shower to rinse yourself off (a little cool) and both worked great to get the salt water off. Walked around Grand Cayman after and felt fine. We plan to do the same on our next cruise and also do the Cali wreck. Enjoy your trip.:)
slineberry528 Posted July 22, 2005 #4 Share Posted July 22, 2005 We were in Grand Cayman last week. we used the Buccaneer. They had fresh water bucket we could scoop water out of and pour on ourselves. It made us feel better. By the way we were docked right by the Conquest. We were on the Valor. we loved the ship. ccrn Posted July 23, 2005 #5 Share Posted July 23, 2005 We went with Soto's last month, and they had a fresh water hose for showering off the salt water.
slineberry528 Posted July 24, 2005 #6 Share Posted July 24, 2005 The hose sounds good. We used buckets of water and pour it on us.
kenandlaura06 Posted July 24, 2005 #7 Share Posted July 24, 2005 Salt water can leave a little residue on your skin, but not enough to make you want to cut your time in the port short.
