tvtd4u Posted July 21, 2005 #1 Share Posted July 21, 2005 Hey fellow cruisers......... Could anyone tell me if the AOS is docker or uses a tender on the Southern Caribbean Cruise. Here are the ports of call. San Juan, Puerto Rico; (Obvious...docked) Oranjestad, Aruba; Willemstad, Curacao; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas Thanks,
Alexis Posted July 21, 2005 #2 Share Posted July 21, 2005 All of the islands you mention should be where the ship can dock. You should not have to tender. In St. Maarten you will dock. Then take a water taxi into the town if you do not want to walk the distance. $5.00 gets you an all day pass.
tvtd4u Posted July 22, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted July 22, 2005 That is great..... riding a tender from the ship to shore and back can be a pain. Better to just be able to walk a shore and the back.

spbflseas Posted July 23, 2005 #5 Share Posted July 23, 2005 My wife and I have enjoyed the cruise you are referencing. In all of these ports, you can expect to dock. The Aruba dock is right downtown. The Adventure will likely dock at the more distant dock in Curacao (Ships can dock along the shore of the town, but Adventure's size takes it to the dock that is a 10-15 minute walk from town. The St. Maarten dock will be a little way from town, but you can purchase unlimited water taxi transport for the day for $5 per person. I would advise getting off at the Marina stop, as opposed to the downtown stop, to avoid the scores of people hounding you for tours, hair braiding, jewelry, and drugs. Lastly, the dock in St. Thomas is at Havensight. There is a large shopping complex at the pier, but you can take a short taxi ride into town.
