Schedules and itineraries of Star Cruises' ships are currently being drafted, SSV will remain in Singapore with the same destinations. SSG I dare say, wont be homeported in Singapore AFTER Nov 08(not sure about APR to NOV). Information is accurate as of today(08 JUL 07)

I have the Navigators of Friday-Sunday which will be posted within the next few days. Teen and Kids Navigator are no longer available, all information will be printed on the Star Nav.

Hi all,

Thanks SSV and boeckli - Streetlife should be an extra item to look forward to in a few weeks ( seems longer )

I agree that Sorpressa was very good and enjoyed it.:D

The talent they attract always seems excellent as we also found the Bellini musicians were superb.

Tried to post the Navigators here but it wouldn't work, email it is then!

Production shows are as mentioned above. Activities not listed here such as Basketball/Karaoke competition will also be held, basically its the usuals on the other cruise lines all packed into a short 4d3n cruise plus the fantastic staff and wonderful production shows.

Murder Mystery/Weakest Link/Millionaire if I'm not wrong, is removed from the program. Newly-Wed Not So Newlywed is definitely on though. Sorry for the lack of definite information!

Enjoy your cruises, which for some is coming soon and have a safe trip!

Take care of my baby(the ship) too:D

Edit: Sharks, just saw that the images cannot be enlarged =\ Sorry for the poor job. Do email me if its possible for me to reply tomorrow(12/7) evening or anytime after that except weekend(friday cruise again)

:p Hi all

I've been keeping track of what is happening onboard SSV and the clock is ticking down for us as we are on the 19th Aug cruise - hooray!!!:D

I've thought of a few last minute things and I apologise now if they have already been answered on the threads - here goes:

Laundry on board - I have read that there is an ironing service etc and know that there are no laundry rooms, however, 'we' will be travelling light (or trying to) and usually I tend to do washing every 3 days or so - yeah, I know this sounds a bit weird on hols, but I'm a saddo......I have a messy 12 yr old and I usually spill something down each outfit - twice a day! Sorry, back to the point - can clothes be sent off for laundry??? and does anyone know how much they charge - is it per item?

Restaurants - I have been reading all of the reviews about restaurants on board. Could you let me know which ones 'are not to be missed' and will a 12 yr old be able to dine with us- he loves trying new food - which is good. Is it advisable to book as soon as poss - I am thinking just after checking in on board (is that the right term??).

thanks for being patient - I am sure I will think of something else soon.

Any other top tips would be appreciated :)

bye for now

Lisa

You can do smalls in your handbasin as is fold out line in shower in all staterooms. Other stuff you send to on board laundry reasonable charges, charge per item. Tip save your stuff till few days before ship returns to Singapore and they usually run a 25 % off promotion with minimum 5 items to be cleaned .

*Palazzo (Italian) No children 16 years and younger

Hi again

thanks to Vera & Simon for the top tips on laundry :D

Simon are you on the very same cruise??? Have you been before?:p

Thinking about money, could I just ask a few q's? I am just about to order some Singapore $ but am hoping that any purchases on board will be charged to a ship card/account - can I then settle this using a credit card??

with regards to paying for trips/excursions, can I do the same? or is it better to settle everything in cash?

off cruising a little I know, but I hope someone can help. After the cruise we are off to Bali for a week. I know there are a lot of Aussie cruisers who holiday there and if so, could someone kindly advise about currency? I was going to get some US$ which I hear is widely accepted. I have also heard that changing money into Rupiah is no probs there, but to be aware of unscrupulous money changers. I also believe that credit cards are accepted. Could you advise what is the best way of using money and the most hassle free way of paying for general stuff like meals out of the hotel, shopping, taxis, excursions to local places or interest, smaller restaurants etc?

thanks for everyone's advice - bye for now

Just checked your countdown,,,,,,,,answered my question about when you are going :D

Will definitely try the Noble House - we love all food especially Asian.

See you on board!!! Look out of the short, blonde English mad woman at the Casino, with a frazzled looking husband carrying bags and frequently dipping into his wallet........:)

BTW - I know the cruise caters for the Asian market mostly, but will there be many British folks on board - sorry, that is a dumb question and you don't a crystal ball, but I was wondering what kind of other nationalities take this cruise?

thanks again

:D

Hi Lisa

Just about everything is charged to your cabin and yes, you can use credit card.

Last time on the Virgo there were 65 Australians and a sprinkling from UK, US and Europe.

Re Bali - we've been there many times and love the place (where are you staying?). There are hundreds of money changers, look for the ones who don't charge commission and count your money before you walk away. If you're in Kuta, we go to the one next door to Matahari dept. store (left side). Credit cards are accepted in the large shops, I've always used cash for most shopping and taxis.

Hello, I have never cruised before and will be going on a short 3 night trip on the Virgo in September. Could anyone tell me how formal the formal dinner is? For example how should men & woman dress for this night?

Also would people recommend the planned on shore excursions run by the cruise ship as opposed to exploring independently?

Thanks so much for any advice you can provide.

Smart casual at night gents shirts with collars . Captain Dinner gents open neck shirts with collar, or collar and tie . Jacket if required or normal mens suit . Ladies just smart dress gear you would wear to good restaurant at home .

Certainly not formal monkey suits and that all stuff . Just dress nicely and not as if you were going to the beach or a footy club barbq .

You charge everything including tours on your cabin card (ships currency is Singapore $). Settle account night before return to Singapore paying cash or charge to credit card .

Your choice self exploring is good but some port docks are a way from the town centres. Their tours are excellent and very efficiently run .

Off ship take US or Aus $ does'nt really matter . Cash tends to get better deal. Beware everything you charge on your credit card overseas they levy you a % overseas fee on top of purchase price on your credit card statement .

Pays to take a few Singapore $ from Aus get them at your local bank, handy to have on arrival in Singapore for small purchases .

Personally I would take the ships tour unless its somewhere I've been to several times because the ship does not wait for anyone on self-tour who is late. 6 person's luggage and passport was offloaded in HCMC from the Aquarius because of poor traffic which resulted in late inbound of several guest and ship tour(the ship was delayed for 1 and half hours)

Prices are reasonable and everything is taken care for you.

If I'm not being too inquisitive, when are you travelling Jambo? I'll be onboard 2nd-5th of Sep(3 night cruise)

SSV I am also onboard on those dates! Have you been on this particular cruise before?

Can anyone recommend excursions in Phuket or Langkawi? I like the sound of the cable car trip in Langkawi has anyone experienced it? I am very much looking forward to the cruise.

Hi Jambo, I have not been on this particular itinerary before.

There will be a video playing on the Ship TV introducing all the various cities and tours offered and a tour talk by the Cruise Director.

Im opting for the Cable car tour for Langkawi.

Phuket will be free&easy for me as I've been there several times, dinner and some shopping at town. Many cruisers prefer the elephant ride here.

Theme onboard for that sailing SHOULD be Fiesta @ Sea (it starts September, though I dont know the exact date) , programmes lined up are very exciting. Of course the production shows, Street Life(Magic and Dance), Musical(Fairytale, slightly comedic IMO) and Passion(one of the best topless cabaret produced onboard) are must-sees!

HI, i am new guys here. so excited about my sunday trips on 21 oct, just can't wait^^. Booked the BA balcony cabin and travelling with my wife.

Few things need to be clarified, hope you guys can help^^

CASINO: black jack? can touch cards?( some casino not allow players to touch the cards). min and max bet? token/stake also charge to the cabin card? smoking area? crowded? if charge to credit card, will charge the cash advance of 5%? open when arrive in penang and phuket? (or only open when cruising..?)

CABIN: front or rear of the cruise is better? (i think still changeable, right?)

SPENDING: never hear about the 200-300 credit voucher from my travel agents, or it is given during check in?

FOOD: which one not to be missed, and which doesn't worth a try? (i am from malaysia, local food not new to me anymore, ^^:) ). On tuesday night(captain's night), is the japanese food free for my BA class?

ALCOHOLIC DRINKS: better(cheaper) to purchase from food outlets or duty free shop when laying on top of the cruise to enjoy the seabreeze and views:cool: ?

ENTERTAINMENT: i heard many good shows onboard, so please just inform which show CAN BE IGNORED:D . or i will watch all of it,

PHUKET: planning to go for jet/water skiing, and other water sports, so which beach offer those? i searched the web and saw about 18 beaches in phuket!!

that's all for now i can think of,

thanks

Hi Vera and all - thanks again for all of your help - it is soooooooo much appreciated and will help finding our feet on our trip - so THANKS

Vera - we are staying at the Melia Bali in Nusa Dua. It was all part of a package with Virgin in the UK. I've read a lot of good things in TripAdvisor and I'm sure it will be great. I am ordering money today and will get US$ to change up in Bali and a few Singapore $ to tide us over and just put everything else on a card.

Interesting mix of people on board - I asked mainly for my 12yr old son who pals up with mainly any kids (even if he can't speak the language). I'm sure he will have a whale of a time :)

Hi Lisa - have visited friends at the Melia Nusa Dua - very nice hotel. Hope you'll go further afield as see the real Bali beautiful place.

I'm sure your son will have a great time on board, won't be overcrowded with kids as here and probably Singapore/Malaysia they have just had their holidays. One time we were on the Virgo there were over 600 children!
