caribnsnrklr Posted February 19, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 19, 2014 Good Morning. Here's my dilemma , I am booked on a premiere cruise for Alaska this June and have noticed today that there is a 210.00 price drop. I usually never qualify for price drops because I book a few months out and make final payment right away but the one time I booked further out a few years ago I booked a casino rate. When I had a price drop wi that cruise I called Carnival and was told since it was a casino rate I couldn't get a price drop. So I'm thinking I won't be able to get one this time either because the premiere is thru the casino. Is there anyone out there that has gotten a price drop successfully with a casino rate. I'm hoping maybe I just didn't talk to the right person before? I am also a little confused how the price drops work not booking early saver. Any help would be greatly appreciated. headinsouth! Posted February 19, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2014 I always just keep calling and asking the different reps that answer the phone when I'm trying to get a price drop. I don't even mention the promo booking at all. I just say the price is currently less than what I booked and I'm before final payment. Can I get the difference in OBC? If the rep says no, I call back and get a different rep. Whether you get the OBC depends on the rep that answers the phone.
caribnsnrklr Posted February 19, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted February 19, 2014 thanks...one more question, if i do get a price drop with new sale rate does that change my booking? I have read so many different things on CC regarding price drops that I am a little confused. Will i still stay Premiere or will it change to now is the time sale? thanks
headinsouth! Posted February 19, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 19, 2014 What promo is the new price? That's important. They may change you to that promo. If that's the case, what would you lose from the casino rate? Are there more perks than just the price?

You will probably lose any perks you had with the Premiere booking also such as free drinks in the casino if that was included and any OBC that the might have offered. Basically what you are doing is canceling your previous cruise and rebooking. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Forums mobile app

I originally was booked early save for may for this cruise when I got the premiere offer. So i switched to the june sailing premiere which actually cost me 500. more to do but my in-laws really preferred the june sailing fearing may would be too cold. Also i thought my DH would get the free drink card as well but now am hearing differently from Carnival regarding that. So I had figured in free drinks for DH and I the 250. casino cash and not buying fttf would balance out the extra cost. Was hoping for the price drop but oh well, live and learn. Thank you very much for clearing up my confusion.

So then, by keeping the casino rate, you get free drinks and $250 casino cash?.. if you look at it this way.. $250 casino cash minus the $210 price difference =$40...so, by staying with your current booking, you have free drinks and are still ahead $40..you're still good :D
