steelerfan7 Posted February 23, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2014 We will be on the Royal Clipper in May traveling the Amalfi Coast & Sicily. Questions for those who have done this itinerary - On the day we visit Sorrento and Capri, how much time is spent in each? It looks like we do Sorrento in the morning and then cruise over to Capri in the afternoon. Is that correct? Is it worth the time to do the Pompeii excursion, or should we stay in Sorrento? Also, the next day we are in Amalfi. Is this a full day stop and do we have time to take a private car tour throughout the area - Positano, Ravello, etc.? Thanks in advance! Mrs Miggins Posted February 25, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 25, 2014 Hi, we are on this cruise from Rome on May 31st. I would also be interested in the answer to your questions. We have done private tours of the Amalfi coast from Naples. We have also done DIY to Capri from Naples. We saw one of the Clipper Ships from the beautiful Amalfi coast road and it looked so splendid that the cruise has been on our wish list. We have also visited Pompeii, but again from Naples. It would seem from reading this very quiet thread that arrival and departure times are more flexible than on the larger cruise lines and indeed the actual ports seem to vary a little depending on weather or perhaps the whim of the captain. This may make private excursions a little more difficult to arrange.
DottieD Posted May 22, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 22, 2014 We've just come back from this cruise. Had a full day in Sorrento, till 11pm so plenty of time to do your own thing. It's easy to get a ferry to Capri as they leave from the point you tender too. The Royal clipper did not visit Capri, we set sail at 11pm and were in Amalfi for the next morning. Hope this helps, Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
