Arlenedow Posted July 24, 2005 #1 Share Posted July 24, 2005 We will be on the Infinity arriving in Kauai on Oct. 29. We'd like to do the Na Pali Explorer shore tour. I'm wondering if anyone has booked this independently of the cruise line and how did you get to their departure spot? How far is it from the cruise dock? The difference in price doing it independently is more than half of what the cruise line charges. Has anyone done this at this time of year, late Oct.? Thank you for any advice. debtman7 Posted July 25, 2005 #2 Share Posted July 25, 2005 It would be a roughly one hour drive from the docks to the marina. You'd have to take a taxi or rent a car. Given the ~50 mile roundtrip distance, it would probably be significantly cheaper to just rent a car for the day... I've seen compacts go as cheap as $15 on priceline. There is a public bus, but it doesn't go by the port and would probably involve a good bit of waiting anyway... In october, the water is likely to be somewhat rougher, but as long as no one gets seasick it should be fine. A small boat off the shore is going to bounce around regardless of the time of year though, but it tends to be a little rougher in the winter months. October is on the border, be prepared for the risk of a cancellation if the water is too rough.
