AnnaBeth Posted March 11, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 11, 2014 I asked on the Florida home port board and had no responses so I was hoping someone who has sailed out of POM here could help! Thank you!! I am sailing on the Carnival Conquest in April and have decided to park at the port. What terminal will we be leaving from and at which garage should we park? Will DH be able to drop me off with the bags and then find a place to park? I've always done park and cruise at other ports so I'm used to shuttles just dropping us off where we need to be! Thanks! dainew Posted March 11, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 11, 2014 I am not sure which garage or terminal you park at ......but I do know your hubby can drop you and the luggage off and then go park
bankofdad Posted March 11, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 11, 2014 Terminal D or E. Not sure you will know for sure until you are arriving at the port (we never have). http://www.miamidade.gov/portmiami/cruise-terminals.asp There will be signs displaying your ship name and which terminal. You can be dropped off and your DH can park and meet you back no problem. Never had an issue with parking at POM, lots of capacity within a very easy walk to the terminal(s). golfadj Posted March 11, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 11, 2014 Last two times at port of miami didnt come back to same terminal we left from. Luckily I remembered where our car was. Not to bad a walk in any case.
debandbruce Posted March 11, 2014 #5 Share Posted March 11, 2014 Last two times at port of miami didnt come back to same terminal we left from. Luckily I remembered where our car was. Not to bad a walk in any case. Same for us, we returned to a different terminal. On embarkation day we could not park across from the ship that lot was full. We had to park at the garage next to it. They provided a shuttle bus to drive us over. It was walkable but I have some health issues and the shuttle bus was a welcome surprise. When we returned to Miami we were across from the garage so that worked out great.
AnnaBeth Posted March 11, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted March 11, 2014 Thank you for all of your responses! For some reason I just started worrying that we'd drop our bags at the wrong terminal and they'd end up on one of the other Carnival ships that leave that day!! LOL! SkyMaster Posted March 11, 2014 #7 Share Posted March 11, 2014 As noted above, just pay particular attention to exactly where you park. Parking fee is somewhat high, IMO. It was $20 per day on my last cruise, plus I believe they charged me for 8 days, on my 7 day cruise. One time, I was sitting in line to park for an extended time, (over an hour!) but that had never happened before, or since. There are some "off site" parking facilities, and yes, I've tried one of them, but frankly, I hesitate to recommend it, and haven't heard much good about the others either. In any case, just follow the signs, and keep diligent, and you'll do just fine. ;) "SKY"
med9114u Posted March 11, 2014 #8 Share Posted March 11, 2014 We've used an offsite lot several times and never had any issues, does not mean that there could not be an issue though. It is a LOT cheaper than parking at the port....and I've parked at the port and saw a car that had been broken into, so you take a chance wherever you park. AnnaBeth Posted March 11, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted March 11, 2014 I'm not happy with the $20 per day parking, but from everything I've read it will be the safest. We were going to find a hotel that we could stay for one night and leave the car there, but the rate was almost $260, and it only included shuttle to the port for two but we are a party of 4. After doing the math for the hotel, extra cab/shuttle fees for my dd's to the port and cab fare for everyone back to the hotel we actually come out saving money by staying at a different hotel and parking at the port! Have done stay and cruise all but the first cruise we took. All include transportation back to your car. So you do not need to take a taxi. Stayed at a hotel near the air port and dropped everyone off at the port and took the car back and I took the shuttle. About a ten minute trip. I just googled choice privileges park and cruise and the most expensive one was $229. $145 was the cheapest. All for April cruise leaving on Any Sunday in April. Hope this helps. If anyone has a handicap placard, I have read were you can park for free at the port. Edited March 12, 2014 by Rapsmac
med9114u Posted March 12, 2014 #12 Share Posted March 12, 2014 I have used Safecruiseparking numerous times and never had a problem, cost $8.99 plus tax per day and includes shuttle to port and back.
