Holland cabin designation changes? Just curious

Hi,

 

I've noticed that the cabin designations are changing on the Volendam before and after April 29th or thereabouts.

 

Our cabin, which is currently designated an A will be changing to a BC. We've been charged for a BC so I'm not in the least concerned, just curious.

 

Any reason why?

More income. The majority of the most popular cabins went up in category and therefore up in price. They lowered some of the less popular cabins.

In case you didn't notice, these re-categorizations are fleet wide.

I hadn't noticed this, but I just booked a cruise yesterday with a particular cabin in mind and was at first told it had been changed to another catagory, then she stopped herself, and said, "Oh, not yet, it's still in that catagory, but will be changing soon."

Maasdam is changing May 2, just 10 days after your cruise. Is your cabin going up or down in category and price?

Price wasn't mentioned as far as going up or down. I had asked for a specific cabin within a catagory and at first she thought it had already been recatagorized, but then realized it hadn't and that the cabin was available.

I will be curious to see what happens on a long time booking with a a category guarantee when the categories change. On a segment of a Grand Cruise all we can get is a category guarantee.

 

So, will they keep the guarantee as is which will essentially be a down grade, or will they automatically upgrade the letter designation?

 

Only time will tell and maybe some negotiation via our TA.
