Is it possible to walk from Piraeus to Filopappos HIll? If not, how do we get there? We would like to use the walkway that was put in for the Olympics. We are only in Athens a very short time and only one tour ifs offered. We have been to Athens before so want to view if from another perspective.

Thanks.

If you want to walk from the port to the metro station, count on 30 mins depending which port (there are two terminals). We used the metro on the way back and took a taxi in the morning (15 eur for the 4 of us). Filopappos hill is about 10 mins from the metro station. Don't forget: it is quite steep uphill but the view of the Acropolis from the monument is great. We were looking at thousands of tourists while there were about ten of us on the hill.

Thanks for the info. We were watching The Great Tours : Greece and Turkey, from Athens to Istanbul last night. The professor said the best place to go in Athens was Filopappos Hill because the view was magnificent and there are very few tourist. All the toursits are waiting in long lines to see the Acropolis etc.
