Garment Bag Check-In: Crushed Clothes?

Leo Jay

Recommended Posts

It just occurred to me that any garment bag is going to exceed the allowed dimensions for a carryon (even folded in half, mine is 22" square, about 3" deep when filled). What condition are my slacks and suit going to be in when it ends up in my cabin?

Funny that I don't recall this ever coming up when flying, not that I fly much -- ships must have much stricter allowances for carryons than airlines. Either that, or I've never actually taken a garment bag when flying, which seems hard to believe...

Let me know, people. Thanks.

WE just returned from the Elation. Our family of 6 had four garmet bags (five tuxes, 2 suites and two formal gowns) and everything looked great! I pressed the white shirts for the tuxes but that was it!) Have a wonderful time! :)

We used a garment bag, made out of the same material as a softside suitcase, for our formal night stuff and didn't have a problem.

This is suprising given the shape our luggage came out on our last cruise.

I would stay away from a cheap vinyl one but otherwise should be ok.

I always use dry cleaner bags to put over dresses or anything that will wrinkle and by placing them in the dry cleaning bags they never wrinkle! Even my husbands dress shirts stay nice so no ironing needed for any cloths
