We left the dining room just in time to catch the Mardi Gras celebration in the lobby:

That's Jaime Dee the CD on the bar throwing beads. I personally had no interaction with her but I saw her multiple times interacting with guests on the ship.

It used to be you needed a turntable to be a DJ, now anyone with a laptop could be one.

Nice turnout

Tonight we had a not anatomically correct heart, better than a towel seal.

After going back to the cabin we decided to see if we could get in any trouble.

First stop Alchemy bar:

Open the menu and it glows:

Live Music in the Red Frog Pub. People were buying this guy shots.

I wanted to buy him a shot to see if he would do an acoustic version of Sir Mix A lot's 1992 hit "Baby Got Back" but it wasn't meant to be. *sad face*

There was a lot more live music. The band in Ocean Plaza was doing 80's music.

Apparel for sale:

I don't know if those bongos are for sale, but I think it would be awesome if someone tried to buy them to re-enact on the Serenity deck one of the lowest points in Matthew Mcconaughey's life when he was arrested in his front yard, naked except for the bongo's he was playing. Where were the paparazzi then I wonder.

We stopped in Pixels to see if any of our pictures were worth buying....

How did that get on my camera?

We headed down to the Liquid Lounge. I like how Carnival is making this space multi purpose. It may be smaller than on other ships, but I don't cruise to see shows.

I've never been to a club that DJ Irie has been at, but I am DOUBTFUL that the clubs he's in sound like a bad wedding reception. Within 5 minutes of arriving they played the Electric Slide. There is not enough alcohol to make me do the electric slide.

See! All of these people go to weddings regularly.

After being in the Liquid Lounge for a bit we headed to the Havana bar

There was live music there too:

WAIT A MINUTE?

Live Music on a Carnival ship?

What year is it?

Kathie Lee where are you?

That gentleman right there was an EXCELLENT dancer. He's also a travel agent by day.

Wanda even danced with him

Wanda and I left shortly after the live band stopped playing and I grabbed a slice of pizza:

After a restless night of sleep because I didn't do a good job applying sunscreen in Freeport we awoke in Port Canaveral to the Disney Fantasy (we saw the Dream on Thursday).

Or were we in Dubai?

Mini Dubai?

The sun was really trying to get out from behind those clouds:

We went back up to the Havana Bar and had omeletes and sausage and bacon

13919464631_874a5679af.jpg

Egg white omelet.

13919479326_25b3839d93.jpg

Wanda found these a Sweet Plantain omelette, which she told me her family would eat this when they lived in Puerto Rico and had no money.

the fried thing was a croquette.

A guava Pastry.

I work in Tampa, I know a lot of Cubans, they know the BEST Cuban bakeries and that Guava pastry was one of the best I ever had, it was so delicate and fresh and large chunks of guava there was some cheese too (not what I've had previously) OH MY GOD.

And last but not least my favorite breakfast beverage the Orange Passion fruit Guava juice.

13919478726_cffa09bec4.jpg

I'll see you in October.

We stayed in the very uncrowded Havana Bar until they called our number. We leisurely made our way off the ship and to the garage where my car was waiting, where funnily enough we passed two drivers from Park N Cruise, where I restrained myself from asking where they were in 2012 when we got off the Dream and had to wait over 2 hours for a shuttle.

Lesson learned never park offsite again.

The drive back to Tampa was uneventful and accident free

That's my review.

Completed.

If you have questions I will try to answer them, but I was only on the ship for about 48 hours. I didn't get to the spa or anything. But I will try.

I'm not sure I could be satisfied just taking a two day cruise but your review was a fun read. Thanks for posting it.

It was having a bit of something, and knowing that you should have more but can't.

It was a good cruise for people who have never cruised before because you get to experience the bigger style ships and their amenities without having to make a 5-8 day commitment.

Loving your humorous review and all the pics. Big laughs out loud here (I'm too old to actually type that abbreviation....)

We're headed off to Freeport in less than 3 weeks. I am wanting to do the day pass at Grand Lucayan and was wondering exactly what are the amenities provided? I know the pools, beach, and loungers are included. Anything else? Also, did it seem like a nice spot to take my 4yr old DD? Friendly staff and no local hagglers about like on the public beaches? Thanks for taking the time to do the review and answer questions! :D

Wanda was excited when we finally go to our room, we had a balcony and this was her first cruise. She kept saying "I LOVE THIS, I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT". It was very exciting. Just when you become cynical about cruising and changes that have been made over the years go with someone who's never been on one. It reminds you why you go on cruises to begin with.

Well said. Everyone should remember this.

Super Review

You covered so much in two days

My questions are about parking at the port; We have been to Port Canaveral oodles of times but always stayed at a hotel. we now both use walkers and it is too difficult for us to get off and on shuttles So we will be parking at the port

What is procedure?

Do you drop off luggage first or pay first?

Is it hard to find a parking place?

Is it a long walk from parking to the terminal

Thanks for any info you can provide

There is wifi as well, and its pretty fast. They lady at the security gate read off a lot of amenities and I didn't hear everything except beach, beach chairs, pools and wi-fi to be honest with you. :)

It would be a very nice spot to be with kids, the pools are shallow, the beach is private so I didn't see any hagglers out there. The staff we encountered were friendly. There were quite a few families there that day. Even with the combination of cruise guests and hotel guests there were PLENTY of chairs to be found when we got there.

You can drop off your luggage first. We didn't do this though because the congestion getting into the terminal was bad with the events that day. I was afraid we weren't going to get a parking spot.

It wasn't hard to find a spot, I just went right up to the roof. There are elevators and there's more of a walk getting to check in and on the ship in terminal 5 than from the parking garage (in my opinion).

Re: limes....

Rcci stopped carrying them due to price hikes... Lots of folks complaining. On second thought, no need to rub it in....

Sounds like you 2 had a great time. Thanks for sharing.
