Norwegian Gem Casino: Favorite Slot Machines?

Hey, all! Sailing the Gem in September. I did an overnighter on her last November and had a blast. (My only other cruise was a week on board the Breakaway).

I love playing slots, and wondered if anyone has any "favorites" on the Gem? (On Breakaway, I had a grand on a dollar Western Stars machine that had some really fun bonus rounds; When I was playing penny slots, I found the one and only Black Widow game on board... so much fun, and I played it for hours! LOL)

Easy to pick one we'll avoid in future!

It's right next to the service desk inside the casino, to the left of another one. We had this machine twice for Slot Pulls, and came up empty. Our last cruise, as Ben-the-Bendy-Man wrote (OK, Kyle his typist wrote it, but Ben dictated!). It was late to the Slot Pull, or I would have warned Ben away from this machine. So maybe it's my fault:eek:

Ben dictated: When we arrived in the Gem Club Casino, somehow it came down to Ben to pick a slot machine because no one volunteered. So our silly smiling smart alec spun himself around on the floor and ended up pointing at one of the worst slot machine he's ever used. Ben's embarrassed to have convinced 33 cruise critic members to donate $20 each although most seemed to have forgiven him by the end of the cruise. After feeding nearly $500 into a Wheel of Fortune slot machine, amounting to 165 pulls... AND NOT ONE WHEEL OF FORTUNE SPIN and the best pull was only $40! Needless to say this was one of the rare times when Ben's smile turned upside down, mortified as he watched his new friends one by one pull goose eggs while he prayed for divine intervention. After just first round, we lost 66% ($5 each of our starting $15 dollars). Frustrated, we all decided to continue playin and ended up donating the rest to the casino.

One saving grace was that Ben does a $15/$5 slot pull which means part of the money ($5/pp) went into a guaranteed side jackpot and Bill walked away with a cool $165 for having the largest slot pulls.

After this turn of events, if Ben recalls correctly, he found a quiet place on the ship to hide.

we really liked these three games that were next to each other, they were a village people, this game with pigs and another with lobsters. They were a lot of fun.

I've always liked the Village People game. I've played it at the Borgata and done pretty well on it!

I love the idea of the $15/$5 pull! I might have to suggest that on my upcoming trip! We did a Wheel Of Fortune machine on my Breakaway trip in March. We all paid $15 each, and walked away with $17 each. Not great, but better than a kick in the teeth, as my best friend would say! LOL

Wow! Thanks for posting...I am organizing the slot pull for my M&G group and would probably have automatically picked a WoF because, c'mon, it's WoF! I think the BF and I will have to scope the place out really well on the first night now and consider other options. Maybe we'll have to try out Carol's lucky Quick Hits machine ;).

  • 3 months later...

My husband and I just got off the cruise Aug. 3 on the Norwegian Gem, we played in the casino everyday , he tables and me slots... anyway on that last day one of the machines hit big... and I knew cause the slot guy ran to me to tell me cause it was one of my favorite machines. A man hit $60,000.00 on a Quick Hit machine. the progressive was $20,000.00 on the 9 Quick hits but he got it on a free 20 spin which is X3 so it came out to 60 grand...If you are a player then you would understand what I mean. it was a dollar machine with a $5 max bet. So it's not true that the machines don't hit on the last days.. cause I saw it with my own eyes...

i was a little upset i cause i did play that machine a lot..... but it was his luck... maybe next time!

Wow! Imagine, $60,000 on the last day! I won about $1,500 on my birthday during my cruise on the Breakaway in March. Heck, I was thrilled with that! LOL Can't wait... 17 days and I'll be in the casino...
