maprn Posted April 25, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 25, 2014 We're looking at both these hotels for our upcoming October 5th cruise. The Hampton Inn is very close to port but their discounted parking for the cruise is not available for our dates. We do not mind parking at the port and in fact would rather park at the port vs dealing with a shuttle with 3 kids and luggage in tow! Our concern is there is a Saints home game that day starting at noon. How horrible will the traffic be trying to get to the port from the Hilton? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I would like to book this week before the rates start to climb and availble room numbers start to fall!
jgmpuma Posted April 25, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 25, 2014 The port is only a few blocks away from either hotel. There will be lots of traffic around the Superdome, but that is several blocks away, and you won't have any problems driving from either hotel. maprn Posted April 25, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted April 25, 2014 Thanks jgmpuma. One more question. How about the Embassy Suites at the Convention Center? We are also hoping to make it into the French Quarter the day before our cruise. We're looking at the Jazzy pass and using the bus. We won't be getting into NOLA until around 3 that afternoon so we don't get a lot of sightseeing done.
jgmpuma Posted April 26, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 26, 2014 Embassy Suites is in the same area as the other two hotels, so the same driving rules apply. The French Quarter is within fairly easy walking distance from all three hotels, so I don't think you will need to use a bus or street car unless you want to go outside of downtown.
