tuleia Posted May 4, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2014 During our Western Mediterranean Cruise on LIBERTY OF THE SEAS this June 2014, we are scheduled to arrive at 7:00 A.M. at the tender port of Villefranche. Would appreciate receiving information … and any helpful hints … about the tender procedure. At what time does the tender process begin? Are there 2 tender stations … one for those on a ship’s excursion … AND … another one for everyone else? We are a party of 8 going on a private shore excursion and intending to meet our guide on the dock at 7:30 A.M. Thanks for your help!
Rare John Bull Posted May 4, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 4, 2014 Tendering at Villefranche is pretty straightforward. There's not two tender stations, but those on ship's excursions have priority for tenders so their early excursions will be the first away. I think RCI stlll have the old-fashioned system of telling independents to collect numbered tender tickets from a specified place (dining room or bar or theatre) at a specified time that morning. When a tender is available, tannoy announcements are then made telling folk with tickets for tender number 1 (or whatever) to go to the gangway. If you want an early tender, can I suggest you go to the specified place at least half-an-hour before the specified time. If you're not a single party - for instance if you're sharing an excursion with others on your RollCall - do make sure you all get your tender tickets at the same time, you don't want one couple to hold up the excursion. 7.30 in the harbour sounds a little optimistic for a 7am arrival, but your guide will be the best judge of that. And they know the tendering process. JB :)
headedout1 Posted May 14, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 14, 2014 I booked a private tour and met the guide in Villefranche. They recommended that we plan to start the tour 1.5 hours after ship arrival - so ship tour passengers may exit first. You will tender to the port and walk along a narrow path to a building where you will meet your guide.
