We allowed ourselves about an hour to wonder around the shops at Mongoose Junction where we were dropped off. The shops were nice. A lot of things were higher priced than what you normally experience in many of the Caribbean shops. No doubt that’s because the stores here were more specialized and didn’t carry the same junk you see in a lot of Caribbean ports. It didn’t take long to make our way through the shops there. In hindsight, we should have taken our time here because there wasn’t really any other shopping or anything else to occupy our time. There are also several places to eat/drink there as well, but we had planned on waiting until we got back on the ship later to eat.

Thank you this is a great review. Can't wait to read the rest. We have cruised and done this repo 3 yrs ago. Had a blast! Hello to the gang, Denise, Cheryl, Joe to name a few. Maybe one day we will cruise again with you guys.

Husband I are doing the Oct repo then staying on to do the same cruise that you did in Feb. So I have also read your Feb. Summit review. Heather your review are so well written. Keep up the great job. I do have a question for you. On this cruise you posted about the cabin on this cruise. What deck was that on? Wished I knew about the cabin you had for the Feb cruise. Sounds like a great cabin. We have a OV on deck 3 this cruise. We have to change cabins on the second part of the cruise. Because of this I always checking to see what becomes available.

After leaving Mongoose Junction, there wasn’t much else in this area other than a few places with food and drink along the road – see photos below. Once our meeting time came, we boarded the boat and headed back to the Summit.

Thank you for the kind words! :) This cabin (2149) was on deck 2. We were close to an elevator bank on the port side of the ship, mid-aft region. The one time that our cabin was convenient, was when we debarked or embarked the ship (from deck 1). Taking the set of elevators closest to us brought us out where we wanted to be on decks 4, 5 and/or lido. It wasn't bad though. I don't mind walking the length of the ship or taking stairs when onboard. My only complaint would have been the lack of room inside the cabin. But again, I think that's only because I was spoiled with the space on my last room. On this cruise, my mom only required the cheapest oceanview cabin, so 2149 it was! ;) Have a great cruise in the fall! I'm jealous of a back-to-back on the Summit!

I had been to Tortola once before, but didn’t get to see any of the island. On our last visit, we did the excursion to the Baths at Virgin Gorda which occupied our entire time in port. On this trip, I was anxious to get to see the island of Tortola. We booked the excursion below through Celebrity. It was scheduled from 9:45am-1:15 pm (3.5 hours long). We were only in port until 2pm this day, so we knew in advance this excursion would take up most of the time we were in port. I knew from our last visit, there isn’t much to spend time doing right immediately at the dock area. Therefore, we had a leisurely breakfast before heading off the ship to meet our excursion at 9:30.

Best Views of Tortola & Beach (TT35) $39.75 per person

Enjoy magnificent views of Tortola and other nearby islands such as Peter Island, Salt Island, Cooper Island, Jost Van Dyke and St. Thomas USVI. From this breathtaking drive picture stops will be offered from Manchester, Great Mountain, Chalwell and Heritage Look Out Point. Then drive to Cane Garden Bay and relax in the warm waters where shady palms beacon as you sit or stroll along the white sand. This picturesque excursion focuses on Tortola's mountainous terrain and its fabulous views. After a brief walk to the end of the pier, you will board an open sided bus. As you drive along the scenic Ridge Road you will pass small villages while viewing the neighboring islands such as St. Thomas, St. John's, Peter Island and Guana Island. While on the beach you can enjoy the sun in Cane Garden Bay, and top it off with a relaxing swim in the clear blue waters, before heading back to the ship. Note: Please wear your swim suit underneath your clothing and bring a towel. Beach chairs are available for rent at beach. Walk with some cash to purchase food and souvenirs.

Our excursion delivered as it described. We felt it gave us a nice drive around the island to get to the beach. Our only complaint (if we had to make one) was that it was difficult to understand what the tour guide (who was also the driver of our open air vehicle) was saying over the loud speaker as he drove. We had a fun bunch sitting around us, we spent most of the drive laughing and joking about not being able to understand what he was saying. Every couple words, you’d make out…”on the left” or “on the right”, only a few words at a time you were able to make out though. The best part was when we were driving through town and one line was clear as day “This is the corner where you buy your cocaine”. (At least that’s what we all thought he said). We had a good laugh about that.

After a very scenic drive, we were dropped off at the Cane Garden Bay Beach. There was a restroom there, as well as place with food and drinks. We made friends with others from our tour and enjoyed the 2 for $8 “painkillers”. We had about two hours at the beach which was an appropriate amount of time to spend. This would be the last day we enjoyed the warm water of the Caribbean (the water in Bermuda was cold at this time of year). At the specified meeting time, we were shuttled back to port.

Heather, I see you in one of the pictures holding the drink of my choice, a Corona. Hope there wasn't a shortage of limes like I'm hearing.

I drank Corona Light the bulk of the week onboard. Every once in awhile a bar might run out of Corona Light and I'd drink a regular instead. I drink mine without lime so I always made sure to tell the bartender "no lime" when ordering so I didn't waste it. I never noticed any shortage of limes onboard though. They were always quick to give me a lime slice if I didn't request not to have one.

We were back onboard by about 1:30. We sailed away at 2:00. We were on the top deck again to watch sail-away and have a few drinks. It was almost like a sea day once back onboard because you felt like you had the full day in the sun. Unfortunately, there’s a smudge on my camera lens on almost all the photos I took onboard (no doubt I didn’t notice because the drinks were flowing too freely). So, I only have a few to post.

We ended up at BINGO in the theater that day (this was the first day it was offered). Luckily, I had my BINGO 3 free cards for the jackpot with me and was able to use it when buying my BINGO package. They offered packages at three different price points ($39, $49, or $59). The prices seemed a bit high to me. Whatever happened to 3 cards for $20? Shockingly, by the time we made it through the line, they had sold out of the $59 package? My mom and I both bought the $39 package and I got the extra 3 free cards (for the jackpot game) with my Captain’s club coupon. My mom won the first round of BINGO! The take for that game was only $177. They played three games during each of the three BINGO sessions during the week. Each game, the take was a little bigger as the three games progressed. The winnings all week seemed pretty slim knowing how much each person was paying for the cards/package. We didn’t make it to the second session of BINGO. But, did attend BINGO on the last sea day.

If you’re like me, you don’t smoke and hate being around it. If you’re like my mother, you’re looking for one of the few areas on the ship that will allow you to do so. Smoking is only allowed in various areas on the port side (only) within the ship: port side of aft bar, port side of deck 4 (picture shown below), port side on decks 10 & 11 outside. As a result, if you haven’t already noticed, many of my pictures outside are taken from those specific vantage points while mom was getting her “fix”. All the smoking areas are easy to identify because they’re the only areas that have the big blue ash trays on tables.

I didn’t even realize it at the time, the first picture of our first day at sea shows that big blue ash tray I was talking about. Anyways, we got up, had breakfast and enjoyed alittle bit of sun. I planned on attending the “Heartbeat of the Operation” tour at 10am. Mom wasn't interested, so she stayed outside in the sun and I met up with her before lunch time.
