cruisin chef Posted May 10, 2014 Author #26 Share Posted May 10, 2014 I forgot to get a pic of the menu the belize night but I had Oysters Rockefeller and DH had the port of call appetizer called fryjacks. (forgot to take the pic until after I started eating, lol) The oysters were really good, great flavor. The fryjacks were good but the chipotle butter wasn't that great. For our entree's I had braised short ribs and DH had a flat iron steak off the grill menu. We both enjoyed our meals. For dessert DH ventured away from the melting cake for Carrot cake with candied ginger. I had the sticky toffee brioche. DH really enjoyed the carrot cake, I can't say the same for the brioche. luckily for me I had the for-thought to order melting cake just in case, with two ice creams. cruisin chef Posted May 10, 2014 Author #27 Share Posted May 10, 2014 after dinner we went to a whirlpool and just hung out for a bit and then headed to bed... (starting to think we were a little lame in the evenings, lol) When we got back to our room my second favorite towel animal was waiting for us .... P.S. I have all of the fun times if you would like me to post them I will scan them after the review.
cruisin chef Posted May 10, 2014 Author #28 Share Posted May 10, 2014 Day 4: Mahogany Bay- This was the first port where we didn't have anything planned. I woke up earlier than DH so I headed to the Lido deck for some photos of the island from the ship. The weather was a little overcast in the morning but nothing to bad. After DH got up and we grabbed a quick breakfast we headed down to go exploring. We did a little shopping before heading to the beach .
cruisin chef Posted May 10, 2014 Author #29 Share Posted May 10, 2014 They have a sky lift that will take you to the beach that cost money (idk how much) or there is a nice walking path with beautiful flowers that will take you there as well. cruisin chef Posted May 10, 2014 Author #30 Share Posted May 10, 2014 The beach was very nice, lots of shade and plenty of chairs. It is very close to were the ships dock so it makes for some great pics. While we were there the water was a little murky so I was a little disappointed by that. cruisin chef Posted May 10, 2014 Author #31 Share Posted May 10, 2014 When we were done at the beach we headed back down the path and noticed a nature trail so off we went to check it out. We decided to eat a late lunch at the Blue Iguana cantina on the ship since we could never catch it open. We both had chicken tacos but I tried mine with a watermelon and jicama pico de gallo and it was fantastic.
cruisin chef Posted May 10, 2014 Author #32 Share Posted May 10, 2014 We found ourselves wondering into the casino for some random trivia. DH and I worked as a team and won our first Ship on a Stick This night was also the other elegant night but I forgot my phone and the pics are on DH's phone which I haven't uploaded to the computer yet. Sorry folks.
cruisin chef Posted May 11, 2014 Author #33 Share Posted May 11, 2014 We hit up another trivia game and another ship on a stick trophy joined our room. Here are some more pictures of the island from sail away and my favorite towel animal of them all :
cruisin chef Posted May 11, 2014 Author #34 Share Posted May 11, 2014 Day 5: Grand Cayman- This is a beautiful island with wonderful beaches and great shopping. Probably the most expensive of the four but not terrible. Here is our view from breakfast. After breakfast we headed to the future cruise desk to claim our tender sticker. We only had to wait about and hour and we were tendering into port. We did a little shopping and then went to find a cab to the beach. The first cab quoted us 10 each so we walked on, the next cab quoted us 2.50 each so we jumped in. He took us to 7 mile beach and it was beautiful. Here are some pics from my side of the cab. cruisin chef Posted May 11, 2014 Author #35 Share Posted May 11, 2014 The public beach was not crowded and we found a wonderful spot under a tree to set up camp. It was pretty warm so we headed straight for the water, which was clear and a perfect temperature. We collected some coral that had washed up ashore and then headed to lay out and read. cruisin chef Posted May 11, 2014 Author #36 Share Posted May 11, 2014 After awhile we caught a cab for 5 each back to port. I being a HUGE Jimmy Buffett fan I decided that we should eat at Margaritaville. We walked there and checked out there prices, and they were a bit ridiculous for us. Next door was a restaurant called breeze. We got food there and it was wonderful and not badly priced. We did some more shopping and when I was properly burnt we headed back to the boat. We played more trivia with a wonderful group of Native New Yorker turned Floridians ( they were hilarious). DH found the front of the ship so we went up there to catch sunset before dinner. and I love these benches so I took a pic of one as well
cruisin chef Posted May 11, 2014 Author #37 Share Posted May 11, 2014 For starters I had the Escargots and the pumpkin soup. The Escargot was wonderful, I really enjoyed them, the soup was just ok ( the only thing we got that wasn't really hot). DH had the Jerk wings and he loved them. cruisin chef Posted May 11, 2014 Author #38 Share Posted May 11, 2014 Ok for dinner I had the Braised short ribs (which means I don't remember what I had earlier that I called the short ribs, lol). They were very good, cooked perfectly and very tender. Dh had Chicken Milanase which after he scraped every thing off of it he said was very good ( he is pretty picky). cruisin chef Posted May 11, 2014 Author #39 Share Posted May 11, 2014 Dessert this night might have been my favorite of the whole trip. I had the Buttered popcorn pots de creme, it tasted like cracker jack pudding. It was so wonderful I really wanted another one. DH ventured out and got the Chocolate panna Cotta. He really enjoyed it and after tasting it can honestly say it was wonderful and you would have never known it was sugar free. After dinner I was kinda miserable due to sunburn so to bed we went and here is our towel animal for the evening.
