To snorkel or not - that is the question ?

Hello All - I am getting mixed reviews, but the majority are stating it is not worth it. Is there anywhere on the Mexican Riviera worth checking out

Taking an 11-day cruise late April 2006: Cabo, Mazatlan, PV, Acapulco, Manzanillo, and Ixtapa/Zihuatenejo. Suggestions please?

We did a RCL 7 day this past Feb. Snorkeled the back side of lovers beach, too rough, hard to get in & out & couldnt see too much. kept close to the rocks & saw a few fish but too sandy & murky due to the strong waves from the pacific side.

We did have a great time snorkeling in PV though. Went to the beach in front of Los Arcos (large rock formations out in the bay) we paid "Cesar" $30.00 to take us out in his boat for 90 minutes. He feeds the fish & has several "tame" pets, had an eagle ray follow us awhile! There's some pretty cool caves & tunnels in the rock formation itselfl. Tons of fish, Go in the morning as the afternoon shade from rock formations makes it dark & hard to see.

After snorkeling grab yourself a buckets of beers at the beach hut bar!

Have Fun

We snorkeled at Zihuatenejo and had a great time. There are fishing boats near where the tender docks, which will take you across the bay to the beach for a couple of $. There are several concession vendors who will offer you chairs and to watch your stuff while you snorkel. We selected one and he did indeed keep an eye on our bag and save us a couple of chairs while we snorkeled. Then, we did buy a couple of beverages (which is what they're wanting) and relaxed a bit after snorkeling.

We snorkeled last year off the beach of Isla Ixtapa. There is a ferry that takes you over from Ixtapa near Club Med. You can ask a taxi driver to take you to the ferry. The snorkeling was OK, but nothing like Caribbean snorkeling. Good coral, some fish, but murky, and the water was rough. We only went once our whole week in Ixtapa. I probably wouldn't do it again. By the way, the coral is on the opposite side of the little island from where the ferry drops you. There is a path that takes you across the middle of the island to the snorkel area. I think there were signs, or you can ask.
