stillfrantic Posted August 2, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 2, 2005 Has anyone snorkeled here recently? We have our own equipment but no vests for the adults. I understand Royal Caribbean requires a vest....no problem except a poster just back said everyone was required to pay the full rental charge of $27 to snorkel, regardless if they had their own equipment or not???? I understand previously there was a nominal charge for the vest (way to go Disney for providing these at no cost) so has there been a change? sportsterjohn Posted August 2, 2005 #2 Share Posted August 2, 2005 I believe that the vest are about $6 to rent.
stillfrantic Posted August 2, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted August 2, 2005 Thanks! I'm hearing that from others too. Someone just back posted the full charge scenario, and I was getting worried. We have all our own gear, except a couple of vests. After investing in all that, I sure would have hated to end up with a bill for $135 for the 5 of us to use our own stuff to snorkel. divadiverfl Posted August 2, 2005 #4 Share Posted August 2, 2005 We had our own stuff and never wore a vest. We got off the ship and first boat over--we went into the water and not a word said. But things might have changed. I trust my equiptment more than theirs/:)
sportsterjohn Posted August 2, 2005 #5 Share Posted August 2, 2005 You are supposed to wear the vest, which will cost you the $6, however if you can get away with not wearing one, go for it (I tried and got called out of the water by a lifeguard for not wearing one). FlaWaterFlirt Posted August 6, 2005 #6 Share Posted August 6, 2005 We were just on the SOS (over 4th of July weekend) and the cost for the vest was still $6.00. If you are lucky and aren't seen , you can get away without using one. It is all luck of the draw or eyes..lol. My dd is 11 and while a very good swimmer, I always make her use the vest since she gets tired out before anyone else. I will say that in July there really wasnt much to see. We went to three different spots on the beach and for the most part it was pretty cloudy. Still a great day and wonderful way to relax. We always look forward to the day on any of the private islands.
