Some lines put a hold on your credit or debit card as soon as you enter it in the Cruise Personalizer/Registration pre-cruise. Princess does not. No hold pre-cruise. During the cruise, if you have a balance due, that total balance due will have a hold put on it nightly. Usually, your bank will release a hold within 24 hours but some keep the hold on for 48-72 hours. That can present a problem for your card if multiple holds are on it. However, that's an issue to resolve with your bank and is not Princess' fault. As long as you have OBC or credit on your onboard account, no hold will be made.
