Cheetah474 Posted June 2, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 2, 2014 We recently decided to do a late August cruise out of NOLA and plan to fly in 2 days before the cruise to enjoy the city. We previously stayed at the Drury Inn on Poydras and planned to stay there again until I got an email offer from the Loews hotel. I would like to switch to Loews but I want to do some homework on the New Orleans property first. I've stayed at other Loews properties and I really enjoy the hotels and their loyalty program. Interestingly, I don't see any recent reviews on CC for the hotel. Any recent stays? Any feedback? TIA
Lizzie482 Posted July 5, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 5, 2014 While I haven't stayed at the Loews, I can give you some basic info on the hotel. It is close to the casino (across the street) and maybe 5 minute walk to the Quarter. It is a beautiful hotel, which top notch service. I have been to several events there and can tell you they treat their customers like royalty. If I could get a good price on a room, I would definitely choose Loews over Drury. I would venture to guess there haven't been many people that have stayed there and reviewed the hotel pre or post cruise simply because it is one of the most expensive hotels in the city. Cheetah474 Posted July 5, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted July 5, 2014 Thanks for the feedback. We decided to stay at the Loews last month so I'm glad to hear about your experiences. Interestingly, the rate we got was only about $40 more than the Drury for the same period. Good to hear that the NOLA property has such a good reputation. Lynda59 Posted July 6, 2014 #4 Share Posted July 6, 2014 Since I am a local I have never stayed at the hotel, but I have been to the spa on numerous occasions and they are wonderful. It is very small though - one manicure station, one pedicure chair, etc. Spa guests are allowed to use the small indoor pool and whirlpool. They frequently run specials on Facebook and their emails. I have also been to the Swizzle Stick Bar and the restaurant Cafe Adelaide and I can recommend both. I have heard the rooms are nice and plush, but I have never seen a room. Enjoy! nolatravelgirl Posted July 6, 2014 #5 Share Posted July 6, 2014 Totally agree that the restaurant is quite good. If you go for lunch during the week they have 25 cent martinis (limit three with purchase of entree) and if you prefer to go for weekend brunch you have to have "hat"-i-tude to get your free martinis. Baseball caps don't count! Frequently when in town we do a girl's day for brunch and have lots of fun wearing hats. The Shrimp & Tasso "Corndogs" are yummy too. Cheetah474 Posted July 6, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted July 6, 2014 Thanks so much for the info!! I really appreciate learning from folks who have had experience with the hotel. Will absolutely try hit the lunch special 25cent martinis. The last time we did that was when Commander's Palace had a resturant in Vegas.
