megamoo Posted June 15, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 15, 2014 On the 8 day cruise, are there shows in the main theatre every night? If so, do you know any of the names of the shows?
k2excursion Posted June 16, 2014 #2 Share Posted June 16, 2014 (edited) No, not every night. There will be one dead night at least. Unfortunately, the Breeze is one of the worst ships for nighttime shows, as she has the sad Playlist Productions shows. Those have no live music at all, 8 or fewer performers who both "sing" and dance (asked to do too much--the quality suffers), almost no props (as the big screens with animation provide the props), and are only 30 minutes long. The response to these types of shows has not been good at all. There is the very rare person who actually prefers these types, so they are out there, but they're few & far between. On our 8 day cruise, we had 3 of these Playlist shows. 1 was decent, 1 was okay at best, and 1 was a total embarrassment. Tons of walkouts, no standing ovations. No Legends Show or talent show. They have the Hasbro Game show thing, which can be cute & fun for the guest participating. But by no means should that qualify as a headline show in the theater. And there will probably be one fly-on entertainer (maybe a juggler or ventriloquist), and that will be the only true show of the cruise. The band that plays in the oceans plaza did a "show" one night, just playing music on the big stage, and that will be the only live music you see in there. How sad as to how Carnival entertainment has just fallen apart. Doinbg the Liberty over the Breeze next week in large part for "LIVE" entertainment. megamoo Posted June 16, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted June 16, 2014 It is very sad that Carnival is not having good quality shows or adding new shows to each cruise. Would really like to sail the Breeze in 2015 but having a hard time trying to decide between the Breeze and Freedom of the Seas as both have things we would like to do or see. Have been on three Carnival cruises so far but not any other cruise line and was hoping to stay with Carnival as we have enjoyed our previous cruises. vamartha Posted June 16, 2014 #6 Share Posted June 16, 2014 We loved the 8 day on the Breeze. We didn't go to any of the night time shows (other than the Halloween Costume Contest - and that was a HOOT!!!) based solely on the reviews I read on CC, but shows aren't important to us in the least bit anyway. We did go to all of the 3D Theater Shows (no, we don't have kids) and we found plenty to do on board! Having said that, I am looking forward to the Dream this fall because of all the rave reviews of the shows for that ship!
SkyMaster Posted June 16, 2014 #7 Share Posted June 16, 2014 Having said that, I am looking forward to the Dream this fall because of all the rave reviews of the shows for that ship! Sad, but true. You'll find that the shows aboard "Dream", "Liberty", and "Paradise", are MUCH, MUCH BETTER than the "Playlist Production" shows offered on most of the other ships. ;) "SKY"
