Looking for info. from prev. Pride of America cruisers in Hawaii......

I'm looking for info. or reports/reviews from those who have cruised on Pride of America and have done any dive excursions.... I'm interested in diving while on the cruise so any criticisms, recommendations or reviews are appreciated.... lol.... I'm wanting to book the excursions through the ship due not being sure if I would arrive timely for privately booked excursions so would love any info. you all have... Thanks in advance..........Debbie

We were not on Pride of America BUT did dive with Pride of Aloha on the 12/26/04 sailing date. I also wanted to book our own diving with operators but in the end went with the ships excursions. It turned out to be the best thing, since because of weather our itinerary changed several times through out the cruise. IF we had booked our own dives we would've been out $$ because of not showing up for the diving. (we only were able to dive 2 out of 3 days)

 

We did NOT like diving with Lahaina Divers (who they used in Maui). The dive was combined with an "intro to diving" so our first dive was only 40 ft.

 

If you are going when the weather won't be an issue (unlike us) - then book your own dives. BUT, you will run the risk of being out of $$ and disappointed if you are late to the port or your ship changes course.
