LBeeE Posted June 21, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 21, 2014 (edited) Hi I am wondering how we will know what food is safe for a person with food allergies in the Lido Buffet? I am assuming the main dining room will not be a problem as long as we notify the cruise line in advance about the allergies? But the Lido buffet I am wondering how we will know what is safe? Also what about potential accidental exposure in the kids club? (i.e, if we drop our children off at the kids club and another child has been eating peanut butter and may have traces on their hands, clothes, etc, and our children come in contact with it)? Has anyone had any issues or concerns about this? Edited June 21, 2014 by LBeeE
Single_dreamer Posted June 22, 2014 #2 Share Posted June 22, 2014 I just sailed on Carnival and have quite the list of food and nut allergies. I rarely ate at the buffet unless I wanted desert. Each time I had a question about a particular entree, they were more than happy to check. It was easier to pre order meals each nite at dinner. Breakfast was very easy, because there were many simple items. I was not able to eat the chocolate melting cake as it was cross prepared. The toughest part of the cruise was finding chocolate without hazelnuts. I did find chocolate cake at high tea and room service. I could not order any items from the coffee/desert area outside the casino. I hope this helps.

Has anyone had any issues or concerns about this? I think it's best to ask. On my last cruise, I was eating vegetarian. They put labels out but I noticed on one side of the buffet an entre may say vegetarian but on the other side there would be no mention. So basically, I don't think you can just trust the labels. I'm sure they try hard but if it were an allergy issue, I'd want to speak to someone or see an ingrediant list.
